I have used paddle leashes on my kayak for 20+ years. While I prefer the cord that looks like an old-fashioned telephone cord , those are hard to find. These leashes have a Velcro band that attaches to the paddle and a carabiner to attach to the boat. I have not had issues with the carabiner making noise but I threat the paddle leash through a handle in front of the cockpit cowl, which keeps the carabiner from moving around. The only negative is that the cord drops into the water when you are using a skirt, the telephone-cord styles do not do that. I bought the pink ones to match my pink Eliza kayak. ... show more

Cannot use ankle leashes on a river because they can get caught up and drown you. However I bought these and my very next trip down the river I wound up getting thrust into a tree by rapids and stuck under my board holding my paddle to get me out and had no fears of losing my paddle board down stream since it was attached to the paddle I was gripping. ... show more

I always needed something like this while kayaking, and it made the world of a difference. The clip makes it able to attach onto anything and the bungee cord did not get in the way of paddling like I feared it would. The velcro stayed on my paddle and did not slide around.     • Used twice and the hook is broke already

The cost was too much for how cheaply it was made. The hook part where the clip is broke already and we've only used it twice. I have spend more money on a new hook now. It worked great when it did work but now I have to spend more money to fix it.

They are the perfect length. I clip to the front tie-down straps on the front of my clip board and they are long enough to allow me full reach around my board without getting tangled around the paddle.
