This was great quality and definitely room darkening. The linen valance I had up before let in a lot of light, this valance made the room noticeably darker. I was thankful for the tip of another reviewer who said to tie the straps first then accordion fold the curtain to the desired spot and place them inside straps. This was exactly what worked best for me after trying a different way first. The color is great, not a true white but more like light linen, as you can see from the photo where I have it beside a true white linen shower curtain. The only downside was that there were some odd red dirt stains on the side of the valance that do not show from the outside. I didn’t really care since it doesn’t affect how it looks up but I thought I should note it. ... show more

Nice weight and linen look, tried the "ivory" and "light linen" colors first, but this "beige" was the winner. Looks good in all types of light, a soft, light, refined taupe. Used three of these behind existing 96" long panels to bridge the gap where wall showed above the windows, as the top of the frames is seven feet and the ceiling height is ten feet. Blackout ensures no show through of the tops of the windows. Tied them a little long to obstruct view of the neighbor's house (which I now have since the cypress trees died and had to be removed). I wouldn’t call these “blackout” but they do a good job filtering out the light and they look nice. I am planning to add a small dowel to the bottom as they are very sloppy looking when they are tied up but that’s an easy fix for these.

Ordered 2 panels, as you can see they were WAY off in length. I didn’t notice this until after ironing & hanging them! Needed them that weekend with guests coming, so had to hem one which wasn’t quick since it had a room darkening layer. Where’s the quality checking?

I love, love this valance/curtain. The blackout is very effective over my mini blinds. I followed the instructions of one of the reviews (making 4-5 inch accordion-like pleats starting at the bottom) and it took no time at all. I layed the curtain on a flat surface as it is much easier to maneuver Tie the straps first to the length you want the curtain then lay to the side of the curtain before you start pleating. Once you have the height you want, tuck the curtain in between the straps. ... show more
