1st you need connects the cable inside to get the battery working, but that's not clear from the instruction came with the product. Also there is no on/off indicator makes it hard to figure out the current state. After setup and charged, turn it on. You'll hear the faint buzz sound every half minute. The media could not be loaded. So the instructions that come with these are not the best. I bought these a year ago, thought I followed the instructions, and concluded that they were useless as I watched the voles steal my veggies and bulbs, cartoon style, into the depths of the earth. So I removed them at the end of the growing season 2022 and tossed them in the garage. May 2023 comes around, the voles are wrecking absolute havoc in my garden. Dozens of tunnels and holes EVERYWHERE. Dahlias, lilies, pepper plants, all being mercilessly snatched right under my nose. After watching a marigold (which is *supposed* to deter them) violently shake and disappear into the earth in broad daylight, I decided to dust these off and try again. There were so many five star reviews that I knew I must be missing something, so I scoured the reviews and realized that I never plugged in the wire inside the stake. I’m not sure if I just totally overlooked it last year, or if they recently added the graphic showing this on the Amazon listing. Some people in the reviews said they struggled to connect the wires, so I included an easier way to do that as well in my video. Because they still had the charge from last year, I immediately started hearing the subtle vibrating “whining” noise that you should hear every 25-30 seconds after connecting the wires. There is a clip at the end of the video to show you what it should sound like. It took a few days of them being on, but the voles have definitely been leaving my garden since properly installing. It’s working so well that I ordered two more! 1. Follow the steps in the first half of the video to put the stake together. Do not turn it on at this time. 2. Let it sit in a sunny spot outside for two days. 3. Dig the hole for it, place it in the ground. 4. Turn it on by pressing the button underneath. If the tip of the button feels hard to the touch, it is off. If it feels softer, it is on. After turning on, you should hear a “whining,” vibrating noise every 25-30 seconds. 5. Makes a quiet whine distress sound about every 25 seconds and battery does a good job of storing energy to make it through the day.Cuts down on all the critters and no more moles digging up my roots.You can put it all the way into the ground if you plan to mow over it or not as high if you don’t need to. ... show more

I've had the Diaotec mole/vole repellant stakes in the ground for a few months now. And my varmint issue is resolved. I see no more voles. My cats see no more voles. This was so very easy to use n install n I have noticed a hugh difference in my yard concerning all those under ground tunnels the moles n voles were digging. Haven’t seen any new ones yeah. I love that this is safe for my pets n the environment. Great product
