Description

Designed with the professional in mind DEWALT's First 20V MAX XR 3X21 in. Cordless Belt Sander (Tool Only) is ideal for carpentry, remodeling, and general contracting. The variable speed trigger with lock on and speed selection dial allows for ultimate speed and application control with 25 speed increments. The quick release belt change allows sand paper to be changed easily with the quick release system. With the over-mold auxiliary handle it gives you two- handed operation and better grip for an easier scribing application. The dust collection feature with included adapters, tool-free dust chute is compatible with DEWALT's Airlock System or a standard 35mm dust extractor to minimize dust during sanding. Wireless Tool Control System allows for ease of use when paired with compatible DEWALT vacuum or dust extractor. With the Brushless Motor you can achieve increased runtime and efficiency. Lastly, the 3X21 in. platen allows for larger surface area sanding.

I needed something lightweight and portable for taking to the job site. No plugging in or fooling with a cord. This sander is very convenient for what I do when installing cabinets and laminate countertops. I don't need a lot of run time so the 5ah battery is sufficient. I wouldn't use it for large surface areas because small sanders like this tend to be tippy and can cause damage if not held flat to surface. As far as the build of this sander I am satisfied. I have multilple 20/60 volt batteries so, when my 40+ year old corded Craftsman belt sander died, this seemed like a logical way to go. I'm glad I got it. It has lots of power, is super easy to load belts and adjust tracking and it is a pleasure to be uncorded. Any uncorded tool will get a lot more use due to the convenience. Others have truthfully noted that it uses up battery charges quickly, running for around 30-40 continuous minutes. I do trim carpentry for a living, so far pretty good, it's a little under powered compared to a corded model but so handy not to string out cord that catches on everything under the sun, standard controls with variable speed trigger.

This belt sander does a great job, but make sure you have several batteries as it drains them rather quickly. I timed battery life and a 1 AH gives four or five minutes of juice, a 5 AH goes for 15-20 minutes. This unit is a tad heavy, but it does the job well. Very easy to load the belt and use. So much nicer than having a cord to maneuver around. This thing is well built and well worth the price. Uses 3x21 Belts
