You have to use the pot to measure out your water but the pot has a huge design flaw: you lose a large amount of water (or hot coffee which I’ve had run down the pot & down my arm, burning me) all over your counter, under the machine & sometimes on your hands. It’s very inconvenient having to clean up all the water & coffee. It’s a very petite coffee maker (shown next to my toaster for reference).     • When will it stop smelling like plastic?
Works fine for a cheap coffee pot. I got it to match me decor. Plastic smell when brewing was strong at first. Doesnt affect the taste, but smell has lasted weeks but dwindeling.

    • Must hand wash. No auto shut off.
Pros: Easy to use. The water reservoir is wide for pouring water into it. You can easily see your water level Makes a decent cup of coffee. Cone shaped filter basket. Cons: No auto shut off. Carafe must be hand washed. Instructions say to hand wash. Not dishwasher safe. Lid on carafe does not detach. Stains easily and stains show up on the aqua plastic. However, I make only one cup at a time. I pulled off the spring and the gasket for the drip stop. Instead of the carafe, I put a mug on the hot plate and the coffee goes directly into the mug. No carafe to wash. No wasted coffee. ... show more
