  • Great design - very well made - easy install
Material Type: Powder Coated Galvanized Steel Size: 12.5 ft. x 6.5 ft.
This review is for the steel version of the gazebo. One hears horror stories about kits like this where parts are missing or it was damaged on arrival, or where pre-drilled holes don't line up. Worse when it arrives it's of poor quality and flimsy and of course a nightmare to get it assembled because the instructions are useless. None of this is true for this product and if you can tighten a bolt you can assemble it yourself. It took me and my wife (we are in our 60's) about 8 hours to put it together and that was because we took it slow and steady to get it right. It arrives in 3 large very heavy boxes with each component in plastic and marked with a part number. Unpack everything but do not take them out of the plastic bags. Build small piles of like items and take stock of everything. All the hardware and tools you need is in a sealed package all with part numbers and we took them out of the shipping package put them into ziplock bags and marked them with a Sharpie. Trying to extract a few washers or screws from the original packaging is guaranteed to scatter them all over the place. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow just go slowly. The tricky parts: Some bolts are deeply recessed in beams. Getting these threads started is tricky because if you drop them into the beam (I did) it's not fun to get them out. I finally figured out that using a magnet to place the bolt worked and if you do drop them a pair of tweezers or long-nosed pliers can get them out. The only other problem we had and what I would consider to be a weak point of the design was the trim pieces that cover the edge of the roof all the way around. These are purely cosmetic but you have to drill the holes yourself to take the screws to hold these trim bits on. All other holes are predrilled and all lined up perfectly. Try as I might I could not get the corner trim to sit nicely but it is so minor no one but me would ever notice. I don't know if I was lucky or if this thing is so well-engineered that it was perfectly square when I was done. The instructions don't tell you how to get it square if it's not so I can't advise you there. This is an attractive solid very well-made structure that will last for years and I am sure you will be as pleased with it as we are. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Happy now that it is Done!
Material Type: Cedar Size: 20 ft. x 9.5 ft.
Overall it was good value for the money. Pros: Extra hardware- plenty of spare nuts and bolts, which was great to have when I cross threaded one. Packed really well for delivery, sorted all the pieces out which made assembly easier. Nice wood, solid no cracks and bolt holes were right size and location. Solid when assembled and nice size for outdoor living. Lessons Learned: Black metal parts get very Hot in the afternoon Sun, roof panels will burn you. Taking the plastic film off the panels was a bitch, they should have starter tabs. It took over 3 hours to peel. The manual said 10 hours to assemble, it took my son and I over 25 hours. Having two or more ladder’s really helps, we used 3. We placed it under the eave of the house and the higher end the instructions called the front was our back and Vice-versa, it would be nice if that was considered in instructions. ... show more

  • Nice sturdy good looking gazebo.
Material Type: Cedar Size: 12.5 ft. x 6.5 ft.
I picked the right gazebo for my new concrete pad. It is good quality and was pretty easy to assemble. Take your time putting it together and make sure all the pre drilled holes are lined up according to the directions. The wood needs to be sealed. It comes stained but not sealed. I have to go back now and seal it while it is assembled. Also I suggest installing the flashing after the roof is in place. Alot less chance of bending them all up while wrestling the top onto place. All and all a very good looking and good quality product. Also note that there are scammers out there advertising this exact model to screw people. If the price is to low it's most likely a scam. Amazon was spot on and everything arrived undamaged. ... show more

  • So much to say with some conflicting opinions...
Material Type: Cedar Size: 8.5 ft. x 5.5 ft.
Alright, where to even begin because my comments will entail both positive and negative remarks - some of which may seemingly conflict with each other. As a matter of background information, we have a concrete L-shaped rear patio that is quite roomy. However, since it's L-shaped, we are limited in the size and design of any items we can place there. We always wanted some type of Gazebo - a very small one to be exact (with solid wooden pillars/legs) - to serve as a grilling station for our barbecue, however, none seemingly existed on the commercial market and that often meant getting a custom one built. Over the past ten years or so, we've run the gauntlet of different Asian-made small patio structures - all of which did not last but a few years (mostly rust and breakage). And we certainly looked at a few gazebo/pavilion type of arrangements, but they always entailed much larger structures that measured anywhere from 10 x 12 to 14 x 16 feet or larger. We loved the design of those pavilions because they had wooden legs and either steel or aluminum roofs, but they were out of the question for our patio arrangement. So we basically gave up (at least for a while). Now enter this Wooden Grill Gazebo which my wife happened to spot online. When we saw it, we couldn't believe our eyes. Here was one of those seemingly solid constructed scenarios with just the right size, and it appeared that it would fit our patio perfectly, so we ordered it. Now let me say right off the bat that although this is an ideal barbecue grill gazebo, it is NOT, in our opinion, worth $1000 - and even now looking at it again on Amazon, there is one vendor selling it for over $2000 - ridiculous! Now realistically, I can see where this structure may sell for $500 to $700 - but on the same hand (to be honest), it is a product that definitely fills a void. This Saxony Wood Grill Gazebo arrived in two boxes - each weighing approximately 150-175 lbs each. My two boxes were relatively unscathed, so that was good news. The shipping organization will only deliver them to your front driveway, or inside of an open garage - and will not carry the boxes to the rear of the home where most patios are located. In opening the boxes, everything is neatly packed and laid out. For those of you who hate lots of parts, well you'll have to get over it, because there are something like 20-25 bags of different screw lengths, nuts, bolts, clamps, etc. Each bag is conveniently numbered, and the instructions are fairly easy to follow - but you will have to pay close attention because the instructions are in small writing with lots of number references, and it could be easy to make a mistake. In fact, we made two errors - only found after-the-fact when we were two steps beyond that earlier stage - which caused us to have to then remove/uninstall what we previously did to correct the error. It took us around 8 hours to complete everything - split between two days. This is a solidly constructed unit to be sure, and we love the thick cedar pillars/legs (which are not heavy at all by the way). In my opinion, the weakest aspect about this gazebo is the roof and other steel areas. You'll see what I'm talking about when you reach the end of this assembly product and come to the roof part. And I most certainly wish it were aluminum, rather than this powder coated steel which scratches easily, and if you had the experiences we had with these Asian made powder coated (supposedly rust-free) metal items, you'd know that they will most certainly rust within 2+ years or so. So we're prepared to have Rust-o-leum paint ready to paint the roof area soon if need be. All in all the completed gazebo will definitely fill some badly needed areas that heretofore, have been neglected. If you are looking for an outdoor (smaller area) gazebo that looks like one of the big boys in construction - especially for grilling areas - then this is your model. However, again - it is not worth the $1000 to $2000 (some vendors are gouging) for such a small gazebo. Me-thinks that a good $300 - $400 for the price are for shipping costs. But hey, it is what it is... The only reason I'm not assigning it 4 stars is the result pf a combination of pricing, some assembly difficulties, and the use of steel which will eventually rust (again, aluminum would have been idea and perhaps justified the higher price). When you consider that some gazebo/pavilions sized at 10 x 12 are priced at $999+ in some of the membership club stores, it makes you wonder why vendors charge so much for this little Barbecue Gazebo - so figure. But in the end, this fits the bill big time and looks gorgeous. I've attached several photos of this gazebo on our limited patio and as you can see, the design is just perfect. ... show more
