  • Still a great choice for 24" 1080p monitor as of August 2012
Style: 24" FHD
I have a few friends with 1080p monitors ranging from 21" to 24". This monitor is one of the best choices both in terms of color and physical design. I previously own 23" Samsung PX2370 which broke after 8 months. It was just my unit. One of my friends also has PX2370 for over a year with no problem. I personally think PX2370 has better colors than this monitor. But it could also be that my eyes haven't adjusted well to this monitor yet. I have been researching for a 23" or 24" 1080p monitors and I'm not yet disappointed with this monitor. I cannot use a desk mount with PX2370 which is the primary reason I'm going for ASUS. I'm going to get a desk mount so the wobble stand is no problem for me. The amazon pictures made this monitor really thick. I found some other pictures online and this is actually very slim. Just slightly thicker than PX2370. PROS: - Very solid quality build. - Slim profile (not as slim as Samsung PX2370 but this monitor has power supply built in) - comes with VESA mount - Control buttons are flushed with the surface unlike previous models - You can lift the monitor from the air vent slot which feels really sturdy - Rapid replacement warranty (I'm not sure how useful it will be when my monitor does break but it's not so pleasant to have no monitors around as my Samsung broke.) CONS: - OK stand which wobble if your desk vibrate but I don't see why that could be a problem - There are lots of USELESS options to adjust the color (If there were 100 possible adjustments, only 5 really works) - Unlike previous models, the cords come in perpendicular to the back surface -- not from the bottom. - 195$ is a little pricy. 150$ would be a great new price. BOTTOM LINE: Get it. You can use a desk mount on this slim monitor. It'll take you a while to achieve correct colors. Physical design is solid. I had a lot of monitors I wanted to buy after my Samsung broke. I saw these monitors being used in IGN pro league Starcraft II tournaments. I bought this monitor right after. There's no text ghosting in this model. I'll update any problems I may come across. I've tested Starcraft II and Diablo 3 on this monitor. They both run great. ... show more

  • Nice overall picture. Some defects.
Style: 24" FHD
Other than a single pixel on the left side of the screen going dead in the first 6 months, the monitor has been pretty reliable. 7 years after heavy use "turned on and off a dozen times per day", the power button finally went out. Overall, I buy Asus pretty heavily. I like their products. They aren't the best out there, but they're usually reliable and a great deal for the price. This monitor was cheap compared to most I saw at the time, so I knew what I was buying. Still, this is an honest review score. ... show more

  • Works great with Microsoft Flight Simulator
Style: 15.6" 10-Point Touch Screen
Four Ports: 1 Video out: VGA 2 Video out. HDMI Use either number 1 or number 2. Your choice. 3 Touch out: USB. The screen has USB B port and the other end of cord USB A. No USB C ports. So it connects to USB A on your computer or laptop. 4 Power in: AC mains. ---------------------------------- Included: Power cord 7 feet. USB B to USB A cord 6 feet. HDMI cord 6 feet. Resolution is 768p (which is HD). Full HD would be 1080p. 2K would be 1440p. 4K would be 2160p. (But this screen is 768p). Physical height standing on its stand (screen straight) 11-1.4 inches. (screen tilted): about 10-7/8 inch physical width including bezel: 14-1/2" ------------------ Because the screen is smaller than a 27 or 32 inch screen, the resolution of 768p makes for a sharper image to my eyes than my 32" 1440p screen. (pixels per square inch determines sharpness, not total pixels on the screen). --------------------- I use this with two 32" 1440p screens joined together with Nvidia Control Panel Surround into one giant double wide screen. This monitor is in addition to that. This monitor is not using surround like the other two monitors are. --------------------------------- Amazon reviews on no name brands are hit and miss with lots of complaints about issues. A name brand monitor is the way to go. Asus is a good brand. The quality of this monitor is very good indeed! I use this every flight with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. ... show more

  • Crisp and Clear
Style: 22" IPS 75Hz Eye Care Plus
I am not a smoker; so, when my old Samsung monitor emitted a cloud of smoke the other day, I knew I needed a replacement. It served as a second monitor for my desktop rig. My main requirement is decent color with very crisp, easy to read text. I park things like File Explorer and copies of source files on the second monitor. This Asus unit was easy to put together and is super easy to read. It is clear and easy on the eyes. My only "complaint" is the stand is not very tall, so I need a book or board to raise the height (a symptom of Cluttered Desk Syndrome). It would be a perfect height if used along side a laptop. It is saving a little desktop area and is perfect for my needs. I am not an action gamer, so have not evaluated the Asus VY229HE in that role. ... show more
