  • Amazing quality and performance!
Not for beginners! Company stands behind there products. People say in reviews it's fragile and has issues, not true! It's a complex machine and needs an operator whom already knows how to drive an rc truck

  • Broke after 5 minutes
This car is very fast but the materials are trash. After 5 minutes of using it, the top shell cracked as did the rear suspension. Also the reverse function isn't immediate and takes about 5 seconds for the car to realize. Will be returning immediately.

  • Super fun, but be careful with using 3s lipo batteries
I own the Laegendary Legend truck which is a slightly smaller scale versus the Thunder, but it uses brushed 390 motors, still a blast to play with my 3 little boys. I decided to upgrade to the Thunder when it went on sale during Prime Day. I've received my brushless kv3650 Thunder rc car in a timely back in June 2021. It is much faster than my Legend truck and it did donuts and drifts like it was born for it. My boys and I built ramps with cardboard boxes and jumped the Thunder over and over. It tumbled, flipped, landed on the shine side up and all, but it never skipped a beat, nothing broke! I thought, wow I found a basher on Amazon at an extremely good value? I looked at the Arrma Kraton but that seemed too much truck for me and my boys plus it's expensive! I always wanted a Traxxas Revo but seemed outdate. I wanted to take baby steps so the Thunder filled in the gaps. Thunder kv3000 brushless motor is rated to handle 2s and 3s lipo. It is noted that the fan to the esc must be upgraded when running 3s lipo. I did the upgraded and ran with 3s and wow what a enormous difference in how the Thunder ran. It was like a different rc car entirely. It would pop a wheelie and ride the wheelie bar until it flipped itself over. I had to practice using the throttle because the trigger was super sensitive when accelerating and the jumps off the cardboard boxes were getting dangerous. I told my boys to step back several feet when I jumped the Thunder...lol A week after using the 3s lipo battery, I noticed the Thunder was not responding to my transmitter inputs correctly. I turn the steering left it would accelerate forward, turn the steering right, it went in reverse and it does this with full throttle even though I am barley adding pressure to the transmitter trigger. I unplug the steering servo to troubleshoot and the rc car can still accelerate forward and backward using only the steering on the transmitter...wth?! I learned that the linear BEC built into the ESC may have burned out and cannot handle the voltage that it is receiving. I am now frustrated trying to troubleshoot my Thunder and all I want to do have fun using it with my boys. I'm going to add a UBEC to hopefully resolve the issue, but keep yer fingers crossed that it works and that I didn't fry my ESC. Lessoned Learned Kids....don't use 3s lipo as the manufacturer suggested, it will work, but only for a short time. I had my Thunder for 1 solid month of fun. I hope Laegendary sees my message to help work with me to resolve this issue. I love their products regardless if they come from overseas. I don't feel too bad breaking a Thunder, but if I broke a Kraton...oh man my wife would have a whole lot to say bout that.... ... show more

  • Great RC Car
These things are great and fast. Only complaint if you could call it that is the plastic parts that I keep having to replace with aluminum parts. The plastic just doesn't hold up.

  • Breaks EASY
So the truck is fastish out the gate on a 2s lipo that comes with it. Place a 3s and it hits about 48 or so. So a pretty quick truck over all. Now for the reason for the low rating. PARTS: While it is like most RC trucks pretty easy to work on. The issue I have had is that the plastic parts are cheaply made. Even the replacements are junk. In 1 year of use I am now on my 3rd bulk head. 5 min after running wheelie bar broke clean off. Am now on my 3rd bulk head, 2nd set of control arms. Went aluminum for the upgrade. Steering servo was slow so slapped in a used one much better response time. Axle shafts are flimsy for the power this made. Drive shaft bent on 3rd run in a baseball field. Constantly had to buy replacements. The small sizing of the truck makes almost impossible to upgrade with quality parts as they do not fit. Truck is now in pieces and being used for salvage parts. Cost more to keep repairing then it is worth. While the price looks attractive, Save a little longer and get a better quality truck. Or go cheaper and get a leagendary Sonic. That one is a tank. ... show more

  • Temper your expectations
This was purchased for a 12 yo boy that has toy grade RC car experience. This vehicle is an entry level hobby grade RC car. I will simply list the pro’s and con’s, in my humble opinion, for the Thunder RC car. Pro’s: Comes with a decent 5200 MaH 2S 7.4v LiPO battery, fire bag and charger. (For those asking: higher MaH equates to longer run time.) These being included is saving you approximately $70. 2nd body shell, in alternate color, also included. Several replacement pieces included. Several aluminum parts included (main drive shaft, upper center brace, dog bones F/R and shock tower adjustment nuts. Cons: The charger is anorexic. Can’t gripe too much as it was included but, you will want to consider a LiPO balanced charger, which are widely available and not very expensive. Or, just deal with waiting 8+ hours for your battery to charge. Transmitter included is not the transmitter pictured. The one received has no base and no cover for the trim and d/r buttons. The tires look like they were glued on in the dark. Visibly mounted unevenly with wobble. The diffs are noisy but, the pinion gear is plastic and to be expected. While replacement parts are available, UPGRADE parts are rare and expensive, if found at all. Lastly, the included wheelie bar isn’t necessary. Even with the thrust D/R at maximum, I haven’t been able to get the front wheels off the ground more than an inch or two, regardless of racing medium (concrete, grass, indoors, street.) To summarize: this is a decent way to dip your toes into the waters of a smaller sized 1/10 scale LiPO powered RC car. The included battery and charger are definitely a bonus, and this thing is quick and nimble, don’t get me wrong. I enjoy using it. Just don’t expect performance and resiliency as you would find in a Traxxas or ARRMA car, which are considerably more expensive, and do not come with a battery or charger. Thanks for taking the time to read my review. ... show more
