Description

Remember when you brought those old jagged boards back to life. The WEN 13 in. 3-Blade Benchtop Thickness Planer repurposes rough and worn wood to give it an exceptionally smooth finish. The powerful 15 Amp motor provides over 25,500 cuts per minute at a 26 ft. per minute feed rate. Plane boards up to 13 in. W and 6 in. T with ease. The onboard planning gage helps inform users about the amount of material being removed during each pass. Combine that with the heavy-duty cast iron base for a sturdy planer that does not walk or wobble during operation. The handy depth adjustment knob varies each pass to take off anywhere from 0 in. to 3/32 in. of an inch. The fan-assisted dust port removes chips and sawdust from the workpiece and blasts them out of the way. This package also includes height-adjustable infeed and outfeed tables to limit snipe while providing extra support to your workpiece during planning. Easily mount the planer to a work surface or stand using the predrilled base holes. Repurpose old wood or make a set of boards flush with the WEN 13 in. 3-Blade Benchtop Thickness Planer. And because its a WEN product, this planer comes backed by a nationwide network of skilled service technicians, a helpful customer support line and a two-year warranty. Remember when your planer could handle even the hardest of woods. Remember WEN.

abunda_amazon_reviews First off let me say that Amazon is awesome because they let me return this piece of garbage even though it was past the return date. After using it for only the third time we heard some crunching and clicking with some pieces of metal coming out then the rollers stopped working. I called WEN customer service and the guy was like "yeah sounds like the bearings went out on it and it's a problem we're aware of." Well if the company is aware of it why don't they fix it? He said he was gonna send me new bearings that I had to take the machine apart and put them in myself. Well I'm no machinist and I shouldn't have to do that with a brand new product. After seeing how hard it would be to take apart the machine I called CS back and said "yeah I'm not gonna take this thing apart", I had already cut my hand on one of the blades. The rep wanted me to pay out of pocket to ship it to them and they would fix it. It would've been $90 to ship. I called amazon and thank god they let me return this POS because I thought I was gonna be out $270. Ordered a Dewalt instead and hopefully that will be better. Most complaints are about the snipe created at the leading and trailing edge. This is common with all planers but, with a little common sense, can be greatly reduced. First, Make sure you feed the material into the planer level and straight. This will almost eliminate snipe on the leading edge. Second, when the material is about 6 inches from passing through, apply a very light upward pressure on the leading edge of the material as it passes under the cutters. This will greatly reduce snipe on the trailing edge. But, having said all that ......... every piece of rough cut lumber I ever bought is 4 to 6 inches longer than the advertised length. IOW, an 8 ft (96") piece of rough cut is at least 100 to 102 inches long; so a little snipe on the ends doesn't matter because it will be trimmed off anyhow.;;Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Great planer;;Amazon Customer;;;Is this the greatest planer in the world? No. Is it really freaking good for the price? YES! I have put a few hundred board feet through this guy and it handles like a champ. Granted, I have only used it on poplar, pine, and red oak so nothing too hard, but it has thus far performed well. If I am careful to lift the board at the beginning and end of the pass or continuously feed, I can minimize snipe. However, I have generally accepted having to cut 2-3 inches off the end of the board. I don't usually work with really expensive wood so that does not bother me, but if you are working with exotics on a regular basis, I would think about investing in a better machine.
