I loved this remote control until yesterday when the volume up stopped working. You have to press it very lightly and at a certain angle to get it to work occasionally.     • Perfect if you want to add volume and mute for your Roku!
I have a Roku Ultra, but it was bought before Roku added a mute button to the remote. (Think about the partnership/co-marketing aspects of that, a while). I had been using a Logitech programmable remote, but it failed and the new ones are insanely expensive. It only took me about a half hour to map the TV buttons to a useful pattern. I'll be remapping it to control an AV amp for volume shortly. A good buy at around 10% of the cost of today's fully programmable units, and I honestly like having all the separate TV controls over a Roku-only unit with a mute button. ... show more

    • This uses IR for Roku, not RF
I was having issues with pairing this remote to Roku, only to realize it does not pair as an RF remote, it simply puts out the IR signals that the Roku can also pick-up. If it is intended to function as an RF remote, I have no idea how to pair it to Roku. The instructions that came with it reference a setup button in the battery compartment for pairing mode, but that button does not exist, so I assume no RF is possible. I do not know why those instructions even came with it. As is, it works using the IR signals to control Roku, but my box was behind a wall and could not receive them, so I had to use a IR extender to use this. Apparently Roku stick does not accept IR at all, so I assume that is why it does not work with the sticks. My RF remote that came with Roku still works as well, since it is using the RF channels, so nice to have both in case I want to use the voice features of the Roku remote. It was easy to program the programable buttons. I needed buttons for projector power and amplifier volume and mute. I also added control of surround settings. ... show more

Likes: Easy to program Love the flexibility of having Roku and TV on a small remote Dislikes: I ordered 3 of these. The first one started requiring double pressing of buttons for the Roku functions after about 2 months of everyday use. I setup the second one and it worked flawlessly for about 2.5 weeks before it started requiring double presses for the Roku portion. It is very annoying!     • It's not a Harmony but this is the remote I have been searching for!!
I have used a Harmony remote to control my TV, AVR, Blu-ray, cable, and Roku for years and years. My Harmony died a few years ago and I bought a refurbished one because Harmony stopped making remotes. The buttons on the refurb started acting up so I went searching. After much research, I settled on the SofaBaton U1 because it had good reviews and seemed to be my next best friend. The U1 was $40 as opposed to their upgrade with a hub X1 which was $180. Baby steps towards brand loyalty. The U1 turned out to be a good remote and programming it and a few macros was pretty easy. The hardest part was figuring out where to map buttons to. I wished it was backlit but what do you want for $40? I liked it but I didn't love it. I really only watch streaming through my Roku. The cable is for the wife. I missed the simple design of the Roku remote but the Roku remote doesn't control the volume & power of my AVR. I never understood why but it doesn't. I had to have my Harmony around for volume so I used that for the Roku but it wasn't perfect. Like I said I rarely use anything other than the Roku STB. Because I am a new fanboy of SofaBaton I looked around and lo and behold they had a Roku with 13 extra buttons that could be programmed and it was only $14. Game changer. It has 2 power buttons. I programmed TV power on one and AVR power on the other. Who needs a macro? I programmed volume UP and Down & Mute and I have the Roku remote I always wanted. I also programmed A as cable and B as Roku in case I need to switch back & forth. That's it!! Simple. Easy peasy. It was supereasy to program and the build is great. ... show more

    • Great Remote, Easy to Program, and Outstanding Customer Service
The standard Roku remote was not compatible with the volume control on my A/V receiver. This unit's learning function is easy to program and I am now able to control the volume on the receiver without a separate remote. It has extra buttons that I can reprogram for other functions.
