abunda_amazon_reviews I've been wanting a Treager for several years, but couldn't really justify spending $700 - $800 for one. One day I thought of checking on AMAZON for a Treager, and I stumbled on the Renegade Pro. This grill is perfect for the needs of a small family and it's a great price for what you get. While it's technically a 20" grill, it has the same diameter barrel as the larger 22" models so you can cook a turkey or other things that require some height. Compared to the larger, more expensive 22" models, all you're giving up is 2" and that's no big deal. It has plenty of space and works very well. This model also has the "pro" controller with two probes and a trap door to clean out/swap pellets, and it has the sawhorse-style legs that are sturdy and look good. In the month we've owned it, we've cooked burgers, venison sausage, salmon, pork loin, prime rib and rack of lamb on it. The food comes out tasty, evenly cooked compared to cooking over charcoal, and moist. It's also very efficient in the consumption of pellets and produces a minimal amount of ash. Others have commented that their units came damaged, but ours arrived in perfect condition...it's heavy, but easy to assemble...simply attach the legs and cross panels, handles and smokestack and that's about it. Very pleased with our purchase and feel that this model is a great value that will meet the needs of most families.;;Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Great Grill/Smoker;;Satisfied Customer;;;After debating for months I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. We were charcoal grill people and this was supposed to be easier, not true. The grill cannot hold it's temperature, the pellets get stuck in the hopper, and worst of all the meat seems to be poached instead of grilled, It's always mushy. Wish I would of debated a few months longer and forgot about Traeger all together. Going back to our cheap charcoal grill. I love the way they barbeque and smoke the food, always a reliable degree of heat, and the meat comes out moist. I cannot recommend the Traeger enough. My new one, however, came with the main control knob broken off during shipping. I called Traeger, and they sent me an entire new control unit - for free! Very nice of them. Not too difficult to install, just keep track of which colored wire plugs into which. Works great!;;Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Control knob broke during shipping.;;Bikermaniac;;;I will not waste your time by comparing this to gas or charcoal grills. To do that would be like comparing a violin to a piccolo: They do the same things, but in very different ways. I would urge you to do your research and learn what type of grill you prefer. As a wood pellet grill, this one does the job. I have encountered two issues, one of which regards quality control, and one which seems to be intrinsic to the grill. First, the quality control. The grill required some assembly, and came with a blister pack of hardware, carefully labeled. Yet when I followed the directions, I found that the washers simply didn't fit on the bolts. A call to customer service revealed that apparently I had received the hardware for a different grill. I had two choices: wait several weeks for a replacement, or go to Home Depot and buy new ones. I drove to Home Depot. Now the other issue. If you look at the attached photo, you will see the temperature fluctuations as measured by a digital meat thermometer. The top graph is the ambient temperature in the grill; the bottom is the internal temperature of the meat. The grill was set to 225, yet it reached a peak temp of nearly 50 degrees higher. Over the span of nearly an hour, the fluctuations narrowed, but that's still a huge range. This is less of an issue if, for example, you are spending 4 hours smoking a turkey, since it will settle down long before the top temp is a concern. If you want your steak cooked to medium rare, however, it can easily reach and surpass the ideal internal temp in a matter of moments. In general, I am happy with my purchase, but I wish it were better at temperature control. The description says +-5 degrees, if I recall, and that's poppycock.;;Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2019;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Good, but maintaining temperature is an issue.;;David Dressler
