  • I think it's perfect but it won't blow your socks off!
As some others have mentioned, this sound bar and woofer won't exactly blow your socks off but I think it is more than enough volume for my liking. There's no controlling the bass (or the treble for that matter) but the 3 options for sound, Music, Movie & TV are tuned just fine. There are sometimes when I wish I could turn up the bass a bit but if I could I would and then when something else played it would probably be too much. The provided settings seem pretty adequate. Again, it won't blow your socks off but it sounds crisp and clear and depending on what movie/program you're watching the bass really rumbles the house. For example, when I listened to Apollo 11 (2019) I only had the volume set at 60% and the launch sequence really rattled the windows! It was great. But in other motion pictures, the sound may not be so robust and you want to turn up the volume. That's where this system is somewhat limited. But again, it's more than enough volume for me and I'm sure for most people. I have mine paired with a TCL 75" TV so set-up was pretty much automatic. Once I connected using the provided HDMI cable the TV menu popped up and asked me a couple questions... I hit enter and everything worked... including the bass woofer. Very easy set-up! And when powering the tv on and off I run everything through the tv remote. No need to bother with separate removes. ... show more

  • Not bad for a 2.1
I wasn't expecting to be blown away for a cheaper sound bar and subwoofer, but it's much better than my speakers on my Benq projector. I wish it could go a bit louder, I have it all the way up watching Top Gun Maverick and I'm just itching for it to go louder, if it did it would be about perfect. I do have it set up in a rather large living room (25 x 25) so if it was a smaller room and I wasn't sitting back 15 feet from a 120inch screen, then yes it would be better. You're probably asking why I have this 2.1 on a projector and such a big screen. It's for convenience. Yes, I do have a better theater system. It's actually a Klipsch 9.1 with a Onkyo 4k receiver pushing them. It does sound wonderful. BUT it's in storage waiting for our new home to be built. So in the meantime this one will do. I hooked it up via Bluetooth and it did so well with my fire stick. The sub isn't bad either. Really the bass is just enough. Movie mode is the best in my opinion. If my room was smaller it would be better. For the price I think it's a good deal. I'm pretty impatient, I could have gotten the Yamaha 2.1 for 30 bucks more, but the shipping was longer. I received this one next day. So far I don't know of a way to adjust the treble or bass. I think it's all fixed in. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I wouldn't get my hopes up for an outstanding sound unless this is your very first sound bar and sub. Edit: Well, unfortunately it stopped working. I even tried hard wiring it with an optical cable but still nothing. Luckily I was still under my 30 days and was able to get a full refund. I ended up spending a bit more and bought a Sony sound bar with sub and couldn't be happier. ... show more

  • Decent Budget Sound Bar
So I'm moving and needed something to replace my existing stereo in a smaller apartment. I had a Denon component system with Polk surround sound studio speakers and a 12" subwoofer. I don't post that to brag, rather to give perspective of where I'm starting from. Despite having a pretty nice set up, I would not consider myself an audiophile, rather someone who knows quality and bought accordingly. So back on topic. Bottom Line: For watching TV and movies, this sound bar is pretty good. If you plan on using it for streaming music through your TV, it will need some adjustment. The speech for TV shows and movies is very clear and the sound is somewhat balanced, although the bass is a bit low. The subwoofer is on and fires, but clearly it's not the priority because it prioritizes the highs and mids to amplify speech. As a result, if you put on Amazon music (running it through your TV), the music sounds extremely high and bass even on dance/hip hop is way too low. This is likely because the sound bar doesn't realize it's playing music versus watching TV. When I switched the sound bar to bluetooth and adjusted the equalizer on my phone to compensate for its factory settings, the music sounded reasonably good considering the price of the system. It's not a super powerful system and you will not rattle your windows with the bass, but it should be sufficient for a medium sized apartment or normal sized family room. Does it compare to my Denon stereo? Of course not! But I have about $800-$1000 in that stereo compared to the $100-ish in this sound bar. Is the Denon 10x as good as the sound bar? Also no, but I'd say probably about twice as good, so take that for what it's worth. For additional perspective. I also currently have a Vizio sound bar on a different TV. I added my own subwoofer I had on hand from a previous sound system. The sound from the Vizio with my subwoofer is better across the board. The sound is more balanced for all things (music, tv, and movies). I was going to buy another Vizio with a subwoofer already incorporated, but the price was nearly double of this system, so I first tried Wohome 2.1 system... I do NOT recommend that sound bar (TV and movies were oaky, but music had a strange hollow sound). After returning the Wohome, I figured since I have a TCL TV, why not try a TCL sound bar. This is a big bright spot. Set up was as easy as you could possibly expect. Literally take it out of the box, plug the HDMI into the ARC HDMI on the TV, and plug in the power cords. The TV took care of everything else. In conclusion, if you are looking for a budget sound bar to use with your budget TCL TV, this is a really good option. You are getting a little bit more than you are paying for and it will definitely be an improvement over the TV speakers while giving you an option for playing music from your phone. ... show more

  • Good value for TCL TVs
This is our second sound bar for a TCL TV. This is not the best sound bar for people who are fussy about audio components but it works and it is better than just the TV speakers. It is a good quality sound bar at a reasonable price; it works best for a small room. We have had several sound bars over the years but they were not from the same manufacturer of the TVs they were connected to. TCL TVs are great for our budget and this sound bar improves the sound. That's the bottom line. ... show more
