inexpensive, doesn't make any funny buzzing noises except for a few seconds from a cold start, i can't really think of anything negative to say about it. the entire unit gets pretty hot while in use, but not hot enough to for me to be concerned about fire (can touch most of its chassis without burning my fingers). It needs ventilation and should be distanced from any walls or materials that could block airflow, otherwise it certainly would self-combust if it cant breathe. I use a fan in my bamboo-tent sometimes, but is certainly not needed for this lamp. It seems happy to just hang out by itself and keeps on shining. my kill-a-watt shows this uses around 170W when running. Its light-output is blindingly intense. I know that big HPS lamps can be bright, but i thought "oh, 150W, hmm.. bamboo likes sun and i dont know if this will be enough". It's bright enough to destroy any plant directly beneath it. I've killed tomatos, pumpkins, bamboo, and even a thistle with this lamp. Sorry plants! I'll be more careful next time! Using this in a 2 foot deep, 4 foot wide, 5 foot tall grow tent for cloning bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra). This lamps intensity is almost too much for this tent size for bamboo, it burns the sun-loving bamboo leaves if they get closer than about 12-16". Normally id say the burning is from heating/infrared, but holding my hand infront of this bulb.. it doesn't seem to give out "warm" like ordinary hot lamps would. Thats a positive, means the energy this thing is taking out of your electrical outlet is going into making light, not heat! Happy to say this lamp has helped me save hundreds of dollars on bamboo.. container-sizes that cost $50+ at nurseries, this thing helped me create half a dozen 1/2 gallon planters of bamboo, now 2-3ft tall after 3 months! I just took a big donor bamboo mess from a neighbor, cut out root chunks, stuffed them in potting soil in containers, set them in the floor of the tent, turned the lamp on with a timer for 8hrs/day, and here i am with my results. Gardening is a hobby, just one lamp is fine for me, but if i ever need more, i know i will be buying this one again ... show more

The light works has a huge covereage area with great reflection. love the Low profile and air cooled hood. It fits perfectly in my 5x5 The bulb i ordered for it works. the ballast i ordered for it works. i like the idea behind it. but unfortunately, I received a damaged product. It appears it was damaged before it was shipped to me. but Also the shipping box was half opened. This is important to the review because i ordered a 230 dollar light and it was shipped to me in such a thin cardboard box it had very minimal protection during shipping. There is a large dent in the top of the hood where it looks like the moisture seal will not be effecient anymore. In that exact area the screw that holds the glass on is stripped and at a 30 degree angle from the damaged part. ... show more

WOW THIS IS A NICE PRODUCT I STILL AM MOVING IT UP AND ADDING MORE HOLES IN MY CORNER THAT I BUILT A 2BY 2FT..THE PLANTS LOVE IT BUT I DO HAVE SOME BURNT TIPS SO UP IT GOES=I THINK I HAVE IT ABOUT 2AND AHALF-3 FT. ABOVE THE LADYS WHO JUST TURNED TO FLOWER 3 DAYS AFTER I SHUT LIGHTS OFF FOR A DAY AND THEN BROUGHT THIS OUT-I AM ALSO USEING A 50 WATT QUAD LED LIGHT LIGHT THAST I AM VERY HAPPY WITH-LED QUAD GROWS A LITTLE SLOW SO ADD ED A COUPLE CFL=100WATTS THATS COST IS ONLY 32 WATTS.
