I'm using mine on a 2013 Mazda3. It took a little imagination to get it to work, but I'm happy with it now. See my photos. It needs to be mounted upside-down on the next-to-lowest vent slat. And you need something firm about 5/8" tall under it to prop it up so the vent is not forced to be nearly closed, aiming down, under the weight of mount + phone. I tried a few things for that spacer, then settled on black Sugru. It kind of locks the vert adjustment of the vent in place, sticks to the dash and sticks to the mount. All feels very secure. When placing or removing my phone, I don't feel that I am stressing the plastic vent slat in any way. I suggest before placing the squat cylinder of Sugru in place, you use some tape to hold your vent open at about the angle you want it to be. (The side-to-side adjuster still works, but with the weight of the mount and your phone, there'll be no up-and-down adjustment. That's why I put mine on the passenger side... so I can still get max A/C if I want it.) After I used mine less than 10 times, the tension collar cracked along its length and would no longer get the ball joint tight enough. I contacted Square Jellyfish and in a day or two a replacement showed up in my mailbox. GREAT customer service! While SJ customer service did not come right out and say it, I got the impression the new one was actually improved over the previous one. When it arrived, it certainly felt that way to me. I've adjusted the tension once, and the ball joint does what I'd expect: it's easy to smoothly adjust and re-adjust the position of my phone AND it stays in place while driving. What could be better! My only real complaint is that I've not yet mastered the one-handed technique for getting my phone in and out of the clamp. I've seen the video, but it's not yet working for me... but I'll keep trying! If the Jelly Grip Car Vent Mount will mount in your vent (or you can figure out how to get it to), I highly recommend this accessory. ... show more

WHY I BOUGHT IT: My windshield phone holder kept falling due to vibrations; also, it had lost suction because of the dust. For these reasons, I decided to try a vent mount. DOES IT WORK? This vent mount uses a metal hook to firmly attach to vent. Once you tighten the knob, the mount won't move at all. In particular, the mount leans against the bottom of the vent, and this prevents the mount from vibrating when you are going fast. I love the pivot joint as it allows you to position your phone at any angle. One of the only things I didn't like is that, on my 2002 Mustang, the phone covers the AC knob. Not a big deal for me, as I can still (difficultly) turn it. I used this mount with an iPhone, a Samsung S6, and a Google Pixel. The spring mount is able to firmly old all the phones without any issues. The Google Pixel has a peculiar design, where the volume rocker is not at the top of the side of the phone but more towards the center; for this reason, if you don't position it correctly, you won't be able to turn up/down the volume. Unfortunately, it takes some time to remove the mount from the vent, which might be a problem if you are not planning to leave it mounted. PROS: - Easy to mount - You can position your phone at any angle/orientation - It doesn't shake/vibrate CONS: - Not very easy to remove - It covers the AC knob of my car BOTTOM LINE: It was my first time trying a vent mount and I am impressed: it's much better than a suction mount and I am not going back. ... show more

I've finally found THE phone holder for my car. But not until after purchasing at least six other brands that didn't work. This little square Jellyfish mount is absolutely PERFECT!! I drive a 2016 Subaru Forester, and not a single holder/mount I've purchased in the past has worked -- and I've purchased all different kinds -- using different methods of "mounting." Until this Jellyfish. In reading reviews, I did take note that many people referenced they had to devise methods to keep their vent windows open after installing the Jellyfish -- and when I looked at pictures some of them had attached -- it looked to me like they had mounted it on the louvers near the top of their vent. I installed mine at the BOTTOM of my center/passenger side vent, and my vent windows are still totally adjustable AND stay open (or I can close them if I want). & this position places my phone in perfect viewing area for me, and it doesn't hinder or restrict any of my controls on my car. And it was a snap to install ... didn't even have to "think" about it. This item appears to be well constructed from quality materials ... and believe it should last a long time. I am so very happy I found, and purchased this mount and highly recommend it! ... show more

UPDATE: Ordered two of these since I initially loved it - but both broke in the same exact spot - the plastic hinge where the phone mounts to the unit. Frankly I'm not sure why there is a hinge here anyway as it is totally unnecessary. Disappointing. Find something else more durable. Original review: Initially I loved this mount - I even bought a second one for another car the next week. But after less than a year of infrequent use, one of them snapped at the plastic hinge where you insert the phone. The second one worked well until I got a new car, then it squeaked/rattled nonstop. I ended up applying a couple glasses nose pads that I had on hand (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077XSL52L) to the spots where it touched the vent/car and that did the trick. Anyone else having this problem you can solve it for $6.99. Still, having one that broke and one that required modification isn't a great track record so it is hard to recommend this product... ... show more

With my old Galaxy S7 Edge phone I was using a vent mount with rubber coated clamp grip but it would slip around very easily and occasionally come off completely. It was worse with my new iPhone XS Max - it's larger & heavier. This mount works perfectly - locks on tightly to the vent slat and is easily adjustable. Phone is held firmly by the spring-loaded mount and it's not hard getting this large phone in and out, even with a case on it. Glad I found this! (Vehicle is 2015 Subaru Forester). ... show more
