I was skeptical of the hype but this is the best fire pit, fireplace , fire thing I’ve ever used . Think of it as a Weber charcoal chimney on steroids. Lights that easy. Put in as much wood as you like, use one piece of newspaper paper and it is blazing in 3 minutes. Not smoke free or smoke-less. Once it’s burning hot, there is minimal smoke but starting up or if your fire cools down, it gets Smokey again. Still 1000xs better than any other wood burning device. This is the best campfire stove in the market. It’s an engineering marvel. Fire starts quickly—within 2 minutes your are burning logs. The design also burns everything down to ashes—no partial logs left in the pit. Easy to dump and hose out and you’re ready to go again. This model is huge. Smaller models work great too. The unit arrived; it's sturdy and packed well as expected. The item did not come with a cover, which was confusing as the box says it comes with a 'stand, pit, and shelter'. I assumed a shelter was a cover, but it appears the shelter is the ring that goes on top of the pit itself, to redirect embers that pop while using the firepit. ... show more

Whoever the redneck was that came up with this needs to tell SOLO the trick. It really didn’t get as HOT as said. Yes there is smoke and plenty of it. It’s great if you have kids don’t have to worry about them touching the sides. The sides stay very cold to the touch. Good thing. Cleaning out the ash is very important and necessary. It will not circulate the air flow as needed. You have to build a raging fire in the pit in order for it to get hot and you feel anything. Deflector is a must. Should be an added accessory not any extra purchase. Overall we’re pleased just had to get it going good. Still doesn’t replace a good ole burn pile. ... show more

It’s larger than I expected and I got it for a really good price. It takes some Manipulation of the amount of wood and height of the stack. It performs best when there is little, to no wind. Otherwise, it is far from smokeless.
