abunda_amazon_reviews I am an enthusiastic city bicyclist, and I usually use the Citi bike share network in New York to commute around Manhattan. The SmartHalo’s turn-by-turn navigation works as advertised, and helps me route to different destinations, where previously I would have to keep the directions in my head. This is especially helpful when cycling in the older parts of New York that do not adhere to the grid system, such as the Bowery, Chinatown, and the Financial District. In terms of mounting the SmartHalo device to the Citibike, I found that the SmartHalo works well when combined with a flexible tripod and an adapter cell phone mount (as seen in the photo). This allows me to clamp it to the handlebars of the bike share, without any other special equipment. I’d use this at your own discretion, because it’s a system I came up with and not SmartHalo. This is a super useful technique for me, because I can use the SmartHalo with the NYC bike share system while on the go, and with other bike share systems while traveling. This is another case where SmartHalo shines: navigating in unfamiliar cities. It’s great to have a device that I can carry with me that can guide me around. The app is particularly helpful in this regard, as it allows me to select different possible routes, including “Fastest” and “Safest”. I have been happy with this purchase, and I look forward to following the future development of SmartHalo.;;Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;This is a super useful technique for me;;Jacob E Beard;;;I used this on my old bike and I liked a lot of the features of it, but there were some limitations. The antitheft function really helped with wanting my bike to be safe unattended, and has even been in some good rain that never did damage. The only thing is you can only know if someone set the alarm off when you get back but not as it's happening so you can go to your bike. I never had anything happen but it was a little bothersome. The ride tracking was pretty good even without knowing about strava, but it groups the rides for one day together and you can't tell how each ride went. The navigation was pretty good too, can't really complain about that. The notification thing that shows your phone has a notification would be better if I could set the text to a different app, because there's only one person I did send texts too where everyone else was on a message app. The call one was fine though. The alarm is good but sometimes it's a pain to unlock it, especially if I set it off by accident. Countless times I've been really close to setting off the alarm by trying to unlock but failing a bunch of times. The light is just plain useless, not very powerful at all. Even after turning the settings to manually turn the light on I still turned it on by accident so many times. The speed tracking only works if you are recording a ride, so on commutes where I wanted the speed anyway wasn't an option without turning on tracking. It was a pain to unlock and take it off after a while, too. (Taking it off to charge it) At one point I even had it completely fall of my handlebars, so I went back and grabbed it to see that the plastic broke along with the device not working anymore. It was nice to have for a while and helped me track my speed and give me peace of mind, but after a while it decided to commit seppuku within a mile from my house.
