  • Why can't I get a flash drive as fast ... Will need clean install of windows to boot.
It is ok. Over an SSD.... Boot times are quicker. Windows faster. However after a attempted macrium restore from old sdd and finally clean windows install. Life according to VERY BASIC monitoring program from company shows drive now at 98% life with only 65 gig written to so far. 5 year warranty and I expect Amazon to hold them to it. My real world experience is about reads at around 250-300 MB a sec (2,500-3,000.) Writes at 100-95 MB (950 - 1,000) so speed claims are close. My system is a Dell 5675 1700x 16 gig ram 1080 gtx. So it's a buy, although I would suggest the 512 model, I bought a 256. On further investigation the bigger the size the more lanes data has. So wear is halved each time you get bigger. My drive may fail in 2-3 years where a 1 terabyte would 12-24 years. Hopes this helps you decide. ... show more

  • Great boost in performance for modest $
If you don't have a solid-state drive and expect to keep your PC for a couple more years, this is a great upgrade. Installation on Dell laptops was easy, but my daughter's HP required removing the motherboard to work on its underside. Check your PC model number and look for YouTube videos to familiarize yourself with opening up your PC. The hardest part was partitioning and cloning my old hard drive but you can get free software to help. I used AOMEI Partition Assistant. ... show more

  • Great value for it's capacity
Seeing as how Amazon has started lumping the reviews of multiple products together, I'll specify the model here. This review is for the M.2 NVMe 256GB drive and not the 1TB SSD that most reviews in this section are covering. Blame Amazon for this, not me. Anyway, this little drive offers great value for it's capacity, and performance. It's perfect for an OS drive and runs reasonably cool under load. The only con I can list is in regards to the stupidly placed stickers on the drive. Then again all M.2 drives have one on at least one of their chips. If you want to make use of a heatsink, you will have to remove the sticker and void your warranty. This is a universal problem with all M.2 drives and it should be illegal as it interferes with warranty laws in many states and countries. Otherwise, this little drive just works, and does so with great speed. Well worth getting for $44.00 or less. ... show more

  • So far so good
Just got the NVMe 256gb m.2 variant. I was able to clone my old boot ssd to this one with help from the echo 3 cloning software. I was having trouble installing the software and I called customer support and he was able to help me out and install the software. Once In the software it’s really simple and easy to use. I used the user defined option and didn’t touch anything else (not sure if dynamic resize does the same thing but I think it does)and pressed clone and I followed all the prompted steps and I’m ready to go. I’m getting advertised speeds and am really happy with the faster speed and more storage from 120gb. Will keep updated, hoping everything will go well. ... show more

  • Great speed for the money
I was building a new computer (out of older parts) and wanted to give it an NVMe. I had one in my main computer and decided to give that an upgrade and put the old one in the computer I was building. It was quite the upgrade. The old Kingston NVMe drive I had was getting about 1200-1500 MB/s. This new drive is getting well over 3000 MB/s! And it is the same price I paid for the old one about 2 years ago. ... show more

  • Look up the chip number!
I bought this to act as a boot up drive for my slow laptop. I installed it and could not for the life of me get windows to install. Gave it to my friend to help me and he couldnt get it to work. We ended up finding out the ssd was a ripoff and the id for the ssd didnt exist in silicon's systems. Returned it. Got another one. Installed it. Worked first time. Now my laptop boots up in seconds. Just make sure that the ID of the ssd exists in their system. ... show more
