A good construction saw, but not a precision machine...
SawStop Review: I've been using this for two weeks, so this is an early review. I've used it to cut a couple hundred feet worth of lumber, enough to form a good impression, but nowhere near enough to comment on longevity or reliability. It's a replacement for my small DeWalt 7480 table saw. Likes: - Easy to set up and maneuver. Larger table and heavier weight make it much more stable when cutting sheets of ply. - Compatible with an 8”” data stack. - Safety features. Fingers are important. - Sawdust port on blade guard (but, see below...) - Integrated storage box for accessories - Single turn for raising and lowering the blade - Easy to swap riving knife and plastic blade shield - T-shaped miter slot - Micro adjustment mechanism on the blade tilt. Using a digital protractor, you can accurately dial in the blade. - Folds up and stores against the wall of my workshop. This is the reason I purchased this instead of the Contractor version. Dislike: - Miter gauge is worthless. It's something I'd expect on a Skill table saw, not a $1500 machine. Save the aluminum bar, use it to build a jig of some sort and toss the rest. My Incra works great. - The single turn blade raising feature makes it difficult to cut a dado to a precise depth. - The fence always moves slightly when locking and unlocking. That was never a problem on my DeWalt which uses a rack and pinion mechanism to move the fence. The SawStop uses a “slide it to the right spot and tap it into place” adjustment mechanism. It’s not nearly as accurate. - I have yet to find a hose that fits the saw dust port on the blade guard. Great idea, but seriously folks... - It (using the included blade and plugged into a dedicated 20A outlet) lugs a bit when ripping a fir 2x4. I can't wait to see how it does with 8/4 maple. - There’s a lengthy self-check sequence when you first power it on. I’m surprised it can’t be done much faster. - Loud, but not much different than my DeWalt. Conclusion….This is designed to be a construction jobsite saw. If you’re planning on using it for cabinetry or precision woodworking, you’d be better off with the Contractor version, or even better, the cabinet saw. Because of space limitations, I'm going to have to make do with this one...you can still adjust it to make precision cuts, but it takes more time. The only thing that warrants the high cost are the safety features, but those are worth every penny…it only takes an instant and nobody who is missing body parts woke up thinking that today is the day to go on a crash diet. If that's not important to you, you can save a significant amount looking at conventional saws. 6/12/2020 Update: I wanted to add another comment about the fence. When the fence is unlocked, the rear moves roughly 1/4" away from the blade. The front of the fence doesn't move. When you lock the fence back down, the rear moves back into position. What this means is that you can't unlock the fence, stick something against the blade, snug the fence down against it, lock the fence and expect to cut something with the same width. In fact, the fence jams the piece pretty hard against the blade and, if you have a thin blade, you can see it deflect slightly. If you accurately calibrate the scale (easy to do, but mine was almost 3/32" off when received) you can measure your piece, move the fence to that measurement, lock it and proceed to cut. It's an inaccurate workaround for a problem that shouldn't be there.

Good accurate saw.... but buy it for the safety.
So far so good. I was really concerned about the fence drift issue mentioned by others and called out in some YouTube reviews. Maybe it’s just my saw but I saw no evidence of that on my saw. I can lock unlock and lock again with no drift whatsoever. I will update if that changes with use. The saw came well packaged. Amazon / CEVA delivery notifications are really inaccurate. Each message / reminder for delivery called out a different time window for the delivery. In the end the product showed up. Delivery guys were good. It was very easy to unpack and I was able to get it setup in under 5 mins. Everything was perfectly aligned out of the box. Update: not even 3 months in and it has proven its worth. I had turned off the saw but the blade was still spinning and my thumb grazed the blade. Safety feature went off. Only a slight scratch. Probably would have needed stitches if it was a regular saw.

Worth its weight in gold
Almost everything I want and need in a jobsite saw. Everything is buttery smooth. Do wish it had a micro adjustable fence more similar to the red or yellow brands. Every other aspect is far superior. And the added safety for my guys is worth way more than the list price.

Peace of mind finally!
I purchased this for my husband about two years after he had an accident with his previous table saw. I couldn’t bare the thought of him having another accident without him having some sort of protection. He loves his SawStop! It cuts smoothly and is a breeze for him to move around in our tiny one car garage. He has told me that this new saw is quieter than his Ryobi so it doesn’t trigger his nerves after the accident. It has been amazing to see my husband’s confidence return with his woodworking!

Good Saw but Dies fast (updated)
Bought this almost a year ago (dec 31st last year) finally started using it on a job a month ago and it’s died just on Christmas Eve, tried a new brake cartridge no joy. No lights light up, can’t get through to support because it’s Christmas of course, no idea if they’ll get back to me before the warrantee runs out because of the time of year, left messages. Not happy on such an expensive saw. Update 1: I've upgraded the review as I managed to get through to SawStop and they were very helpful in diagnosing and sending out a new switch assembly as the fault. Printed instructions weren't included but I found them on the site and they were easy to follow. The saw is back up and running! Overall review : If you're looking at a sawstop it's for the safety features. You don't need any other justification. If you want to know is it a good saw for that money, well it's equivalent to saws about the third the price, those are good saws, the DeWalt, Bosch, Hitachi etc. It compares well to them. Setup is easy, it has some nice features for ergonomics like tool free insert and riving knife change, single handed fence. The mobile cart is really nice, sturdy and effortless to fold out or away. Power is a little less than you might expect, but it has overheating protection which means it shouldn't burn out your motor. It struggled to resaw a maple plank at full extension but did get through it. The fence gets a lot of negative reviews online, for me I found it fine. If you have your hand close to the fence a lot I can see how you might knock the locking mechanism during a cut which would suck, but so far I haven't done that myself. I don't like that it moves as you lock it though and has a lot of play when unlocked. Otherwise though it does the job and is pretty easy to true. Lots of people have had a lot of luck with the setup being perfect out of the box with this saw. Not me. The blade was correct, but the fence and insert plate were quite far out, and the markings for the extension were out over 1/8th. I'd recommend checking rather than trusting on this, setting the saw up to be true will save you a lot of time once done. Overall yes you might be buying it for safety, but you are also getting a good quality saw with it. If I had one regret it's that I didn't spring for the contractor saw. The JSS is good, and it's great that it folds away to take up less space in my garage, but I worry about how long it will last and it's not the quietest saw while I gather than contractor is one of the quieter saws out there.
