Description

OverviewThe RØDE VideoMic Pro is a true shotgun microphone designed for use with camcorders, DSLR cameras and portable audio recorders as a source of primary and reference audio. At the heart of the VideoMic Pro is an all-new 1/2" condenser capsule that provides broadcast-quality audio via a 3.5mm mini jack connector (outputting the mono signal to both left and right channels) with an incredibly low self-noise of just 14db. A super-cardioid polar pattern ensures that surrounding audio is minimized, and your recording is focused on the subject in front of the camera. • sounds great
10 times better than the mic that is on the phone

  • I love my Rode mic! It does have a couple of flaws. Read this before you buy!
The mic works great! The sound quality vs. the in camera mics is superior in every way! However, the included battery barely fits in the mic's battery compartment, and at 250mAh's, it is not what I would use. I bought a different set of rechargeable 9v's with 600mAh's. EBL 840 9V Li-ion Ni-MH Battery Charger with 600mAh Rechargeable Batteries (2 Pack) I bought the unit for the included dead cat wind screen. And that works, great! The rycote mount works, pretty good. It is not perfect, as I can hear the mount rattling around on my video's audio, depending on how I hold the camera while walking. If I hold the camera (Sony - FDR - AX53) on the side, I can hear it rattling all day long. If I use a monopod, or if I hold the unit on the bottom in the palm of my hand, I do not hear any noise from the mount while I am walking and filming at the same time. And getting the battery door off is a pain! Would I purchase this unit again? Yes, the audio is so much better than any in camera mic. This unit is a must have item for the average consumer and or pro-sumer. ... show more

  • It's Pricey BUT the SOUND QUALITY and additional accessories make it a good purchase
I was a little surprised at how thin plastic feeling this is. I have the videomic go and me and they feel solid. They could have used a slightly denser plastic but maybe they wanted to keep it light as possible. The battery door is the biggest downfall. It is awkward in both function and placement. They should have put it in the back with a latch door. The fuzzy or dead cat goes over the foam piece. It does not replace the foam screen. Which I kinda like because then I don't have that to keep track of. It was easy to install and fit well. The button levers work good. It's not cheesy or light where you pass the setting you want. Good clicks. The sound quality is excellent. It's full rich and not much ambient noise. The sound quality makes it worth purchasing despite its quirks. Although I don't hear much of a difference between 0 and +20 gain. Can't tell much of difference using the low cut or bypass filter either. I will test it in other environments. This package also included a rechargeable 9volt battery. That and the fuzzy just made everything that much sweeter. Great Mic. ... show more

  • Great sound but broken switch
This microphone has excellent sound quality. My only complaint is one of the switches that turns on the microphone popped off shortly after starting to use it. It doesn’t pop back on either so I have to push it back on every time I want to turn it on or off and it gets kind of hard to keep track of the little button. Other than that, high quality microphone. ... show more

  • The Rode Videomic Pro is fantastic. It picks up so much sound
The Rode Videomic Pro is fantastic. It picks up so much sound, and you need to do some tweaking with your cameras audio, but it is easy to remove the hiss people are complaining about The mount feels fragile, but considering it is supposed to absorb shock, it needs to be flexible. The rechargeable battery did not fit in the mic. No charger was provided. Not a big deal, I'll just buy my batteries. Besides, I would raher use high quality batteries in a mic this expensive. ... show more

  • Works good but so does my 15 dollar lapel.
It works great. Just remember it's directional so talking behind the camera sounds like garbage. It really is overpriced but what are ya gonna do? They've got the market cornered at the moment.

  • Great Mic!
Great product. Great brand. One problem though: the dead cat is a bit too big. I used it on my bigger Rodemic Videomic (it's longer/bigger) and it works awesome! I had to get a separate deadcst for this mic, but it's cool. I own quite a bit of Rode gear, and stand by all of it. They're just one of those brands you can trust, like Pelican or Manfrotto. Anyone in video production should own this. ... show more
