My three-year-old son suffers from allergies. We’ve never had him officially tested, but he suffers from seasonal allergies and pet allergies. We have four kitties and one dog. My husband and I are also people who suffer with seasonal and pet allergies. We have put up with it for so long that we didn’t realize there was an answer as easy as an air filter, besides medication . I spent three hours researching air filters. And I ended up purchasing two different ones. I Purchased this one for my three-year-old’s room, and then we purchased a Hathaspace Air filter that does larger rooms for our living room/dining room/kitchen area. For the last month my husband and I had been kept up by our three-year-old coughing all night. We couldn’t figure out what was going on with him because he didn’t seem sick during the day. As soon as we lay him down at night he would cough all night long. My poor baby was exhausted, not to mention his parents. I am also a registered nurse and started to realize that the symptoms started after closing my house up for the winter. We live in Montana and usually have an early winter. Which usually starts in October but hit us in September this year. Our inside air is nothing but recirculated dust, pet dander, pet hair and all the day-to-day things that you can find in anyone’s home. I am a fanatic about cleaning, but it didn’t seem to help our allergy symptoms at all. Last night was the first night we used this air filter in my sons room. He went to bed without coughing he slept all night without coughing and I just couldn’t believe it. We all woke up much more rested and feeling much better about the air he’s breathing. I’ve just hooked up the Hathaspace this morning as it was just delivered. I’m looking forward to see how all of our symptoms hopefully improve throughout the house. I will definitely be purchasing two more of these units one for our room and one for my older sons room. It has three fan levels none of which are too obnoxious. The highest speed of the fan I would say is a little noisier than what I expected, but it doesn’t seem to bother anybody. The night mode is perfect you can’t even hear it running and it has a gentle blue nightlight on the top that is not a deterrent for sleep. It did leave a mild odor in the room that reminded me of newness, it wasn’t plastic it wasn’t a chemical smell it was just kind of a fresh new smell. This morning I don’t notice an order at all other than his room smelling fresh. The filter replacements are reasonably price I have not had to change the filter yet but I did take a dry run to see how difficult it was just to change and it’s as simple as popping off the bottom and removing the filter and sliding the new one in. Very simple to operate. After painstakingly reviewing many many models of air purifiers I finally did settle on this one for my son’s bedroom and will probably be buying two more units for the other bedrooms. ... show more

I liked the sleep mode as it provided a perfect level of white noise but was skeptical of how much it was improving the air quality. After 4 months of consistent use I checked the filter and WOW! I had no idea my air was that dirty! I recommend this to purify the air and as a bonus it serves as a good sleep aide. ... show more

Updating this information. After going to the California Board of Air Quality lists of air purifiers, Renpho is indeed listed as a mechanical air purifier and is not an electronic one which means that it is indeed ion free. Very concerned for those, who like me, already suffer from lung disease and need to be sure that the air purifier being used in homes is ion free. Sigh of relief! ... show more

I am someone who gets mysterious "morning allergies." I go to sleep without issues, and wake up with an insurmountable need to blow my nose the entire morning. Not sure what the problem is (according to test results, I'm allergic to just about everything), but it is particularly awful during the summer. I bought this air filter about 2-3 weeks ago and am amazed at the difference it makes. I run it all night on the lowest setting, which is wonderful white noise, and in the morning, I notice a HUGE difference in my allergies. They are not gone, but I would say they are 80% improved, which is enough to help me have a good start to the day. This is something I wish I'd purchased earlier. I received the air purifier yesterday and ran it overnight on the sleep mode… Which was very quiet and did not disrupt my sleep. During the unboxing I noticed the sturdy construction and the “solid” feel of the unit. Also, I liked that it’s lightweight & easy to move around. The manufacturer say that replacement replacement filters will cost $16.99, which is reasonable, another plus. I wish it came with a remote control, but comparable units also don’t offer a Remote, and since it’s portable, it’s OK. The top buttons are easy to press, and simple to understand. The only negative so far is a slight plastic smell while unboxing, which was minimal and should dissipate over time. I’ve returned other Amazon products like a Bicycle seat cover that reeked of plastic, but that is not the issue here. My hope is to give an honest review! Overall, I would recommend this to family, and its initial price point is about $10 less than comparable units. Thanks, Ed ... show more

My wife was sneezing left and right when we moved in to the new apartment. This was going on since quite few months now. We decided to something about it instead of having Claritin to suppress the allergies. I also have a strong sensitive nose :) That's when we came across this air purifier and thought of giving it a try. This one just arrived yesterday and since day 1 its doing its charm on us. This one is just a single button life saver ! In about 10 minutes post plugging it in, we started feeling the difference in our bedroom and it helped relieve the sensitivity of our nose. We switched it one for a couple of minutes, may be an hour and I can definitely say, this one works !!! That's why I thought of posting a review the very next day i bought it. If you don't believe me, you can try ourself, by placing it in bedroom, closing the door, and keeping it on for few minutes and spend some time outside the room. Once you are back in the room, you will feel the difference in air your breathe. This one is compact and lightweight and its easy to carry across rooms, and even if need while traveling. Noise is not very significant. We could sleep with it being switched on. No issues there. It helped us to breathe easy. Relieve our nose sensitivity. Good for the price too ! ... show more

Been using this for about a week and its great. I have 4 dogs, and I have allergies to a lot of plants and dust, and I can tell how fresh the air in my room is after using this for a few days. It also does a good job of clearing out any odors caused by basic human bodily functions.
