I searched high and low for a machine washable large area rug to replace my previous higher pile rug in this space which I could no longer get clean from the stains and odors my 2 puppies left. I found most washable rugs to be $400-$500 plus the $100-$150 rug pad go underneath. Additionally, the machine wash rugs were seemingly all neutral and/or muted colors (I began to assume that was so there was no fading from machine washing?) Because of the neutral couch, walls, etc in this room and the kitchen it opens up to, I really needed something with color. This rug is a beautiful color and highly pigmented! I don’t know how this will stand up to washing in the machine (or if it’ll 100% fit in my regular sized washing machine) but so far I’ve shampood it and spot cleaned it with no problems! I’m sure it’ll fit in the larger laundromat wash if needed for an occasional full clean, and it’s not too heavy and easy to roll up so I don’t think it’ll be a hassle to transport for an occasional wash. Messes and spills are easy to pick up, and it looks brand new after! (It’s not a “distressed” color pattern but the color is slightly varied throughout unlike a solid colored rug that might show an outline of where it was spot cleaned etc.) It also doesn’t require the additional purchase of the rug pad underneath! If you flip the rug over you’ll see that there is a rubber layer under the rug, so not only does this prevent the rug from slipping and sliding, it also ensures that when I do shampoo it, no water is reaching the hardwood floors. Many of the “washable” rugs I found prior to this one were indoor/outdoor and I questioned how they would feel underfoot even though my first priority was cleaning. Although this rug is thin (of course, hence the machine wash) it does not feel straw-like or mat-like. It feels surprisingly soft under your feet despite being low pile! I searched for SO long for something easy to clean, with color and somewhat reasonably priced and I am thrilled with my purchase! This rug was better than I expected and I would highly recommend it — especially if you’re worried about cleaning up after pets or children. It didn’t come in an 8x10 like I previously had in this space but I happily sacrificed a few inches on each side with the largest size of this rug offered which was 7’6” x 9’6”. Would absolutely purchase this brand again! Nov 2025 update: 2+ years later and I still highly recommend this rug! It DOES fit in my standard front loading apartment washing machine. When there are larger spills or pet stains I run it in the machine twice with an extra spin or 2 and lay it out to dry for the night before putting it back down on the floor and it looks great. I’ve done this numerous times since I purchased the rug and there are no signs of wear and tear on it so far!

I love the look and feel of the rug and think that it's made very well. Food accidentally dropped on it washes out in your washing machine very well. I always spray it first with a stain spray right before washing. We have tried wiping some of them such as spaghetti sauce, while it comes out you can still see a little bit of a circle where you cleaned it up. But this definitely goes away once you wash it in the washing machine. My Con is the rugs backing is not non-slip at all! This thing moves all over the place and I'm constantly putting it back. I have not decided if I wanted to try a double-sided flooring tape or put an actual non-slip pad under it but I hate the fact that I have to now buy something else. For your knowledge our flooring is Vinyl Plank Tile.

Ordered in the Orange 4x6 The rug is thin and would be better described as a mat with a velour type softness. Although this is super thin it somehow has a slight cushiness. The color was as shown in the ad, my pictures are extremely close to reality as well. I’d describe it as a kind of rusty orange or some may even see it as a brick red. The white design/diamond parts are soft white, not stark and there are slight color variations throughout that add a texture and interest. I have not had a need to wash it yet but it is easy to vacuum. While it is non-slip, I still placed small non slip tabs on the corners as it tends to shift slightly over time since it’s in a heavy traffic area in my home. I will update if any problems arise after laundering but so far I’m very pleased with the color, feel and quality. To compare, I had a rug-able rug before this and while the rugable rug has some great designs and is thicker due to the rubber and Velcro type pad underneath, this Real Life rug has been less hassle to lay down and keep in place. If your goal is aesthetics and washability rather than comfort then this would be the way to go but if you’re expecting plushness or warmth then I’d recommend skipping it. I was seeking the former and so far I love it.

I absolutely love this rug! It's lightweight, has a great feel. It is very easy to vacuum over which was very important to me. The colors are exactly as described. Greys , rust, cream. Right out of the package it laid flat . The backing is soft on my floors with little rubber tips. It doesn't slip or slide around. After looking for quite some time I finally found this one. I think it really brought my whole room together. I like the added bonus of it being washable.

I don’t typically leave reviews good or bad , but I am so incredibly thankful for this product. I have two pups over 100 lbs each and they are 5 and 7 years old. I’ve had them since before they were potty trained and they are constantly bringing in their dirty paws from outside. They have even vomited on this rug . I also have contributed to this rug getting extremely dirty myself by spilling numerous times on it. . Since I’ve had my pups I’ve went through numerous rugs , but since I purchased your washable rug , I haven’t had to purchase another. This morning I brought my filthy ( and when I say filthy, I mean I was embarrassed of how dirty I allowed it to get ) to the laundromat and washed it in the large washing machine. $9 later this rug came out looking brand new. My jaw literally dropped when I saw how clean it was. I didn’t realize how dirty it was until I saw how clean it became .
