    • SPARE BALL - Not a HOOK BAll - For Beginners
First things first, this ball has no hook potential, it will not hook any more than that of the house balls in the bowling alley. Its purpose is to go straight!! Second, I would NOT buy this for someone who is into bowling and already has a few bowling balls they probably already have one of these balls. The perfect person for this ball is one, you a bowler wanting a spare ball, or someone buying this as a gift for their kids or you into bowling and you want to get your loved ones into bowling as well (what I did). Third, now this is talking about Pyramid (the brand) itself, pyramid is not a brand that the pros use its not a top-tier brand, so I cannot comment on the durability of this ball, but from what Ive seen depending on lane conditions the surface of this ball could be severely impacted where a more premium ball would be more durable. Now some advice be careful with the Pyramid this is a spare ball so there is no asymmetrical weight which would need a lay out for the pro-shop to drill. I have head things about people buying one of Pyramids higher-end balls that are made to hook, and are disappointed because pro-shops don't know the proper drilling layout ... show more

I was looking for a recreational ball to get back into bowling after an absence of 30 years. I received the ball in a timely manner. I opted not to have any holes drilled in ball.     • A true contender at the alley!

Having acquired a love of tenpin bowling, under the influence of my father, who was in a league for several years, I figured it was time to get my own gear. In addition to the 10, 12 and 15-pound balls I had (as many of us serious amateurs tend to get multiple balls of various weights for differing shots), I needed a 16-pounder for to complete the lineup, considering I am a rather strong woman. I will say right off the bat that it is best to have these balls custom-drilled at a pro-shop, where you can be measured, depending on your needs. For heavier balls such as this one, it is highly recommended that you have a slug in the thumb hole for a more comfortable grip, such as I have done with this one, as well as my 15-pounder. Do all of this, and rolling it should be much more comfortable. In my experience of using this one, I have been able to roll some pretty good hammers (if you didn't know, a hammer is a strike in which the pins all go down really fast upon the ball making contact). Other than that, it handles comfortably, and is best if rolled a bit from the side, and with allowing gravity to do most of the work, as it does hook just a little bit.
