Protec is NICE!
Nice, sturdy and good looking case for my Bb trumpet. The zippered outside pocket has room for some thin music books or a tablet. You can put an Arban's in there but you won't be able to get the zipper closed...kind of like me getting into an old pair of pants I guess. Inside the case, there are two mouthpieces holders and room for one or two mutes, cleaning supplies, and valve oil. Workmanship is superb, no loose threads, no sloppy stitching, no cheap materials. Yes, someone is taking care of QC at Protec. The case IMO is not too large, though larger than the OEM Yamaha case I have. It is well padded inside. The shoulder strap and zippers are heavy duty...not cheap feeling whatsoever. The case is covered in a ballistic-type nylon. I am not sure of the level of water protection. There's a wooden shell built into the case that seems to help protect the instrument for general schlepping around. I play the trumpet for my self amusement and I don't travel distances with it. If I did, I would carry this on the airplane and not check it in to be on the safe side. A luggage tag was included with my case. Both zippered compartments can be secured using the small TSA type locks (that only keep honest people honest) that are not included with the case. This quality case is perfect for my purposes. Well done, Protec!

The perfect, compact yet roomy quality trumpet case
This is beautifully designed trumpet case. It is manufactured to very high quality standards. The wood frame gives the case excellent protection without it being overly bulky or heavy. It comes with straps and very comfortable velcro’d handles. I have a custom trumpet that never came with a case and have been looking for a compact, well padded case that I could carry a couple mutes, music, some basic supplies and my mouthpiece case and a couple that I play regularly. This case checked all those boxes in a very well padded and compact case with the added bonus of having a weather proof exterior shell. The built-in outside zipped pocket is also very useful. It can easily store pens, pencils, cleaning cloth, additional cleaning supplies, etc. I have owned a backpack style Protec trumpet case for use when I travel. After hours of researching for the perfect case, I ended up with another Protec for their quality, durability and design. They might be a few dollars more than others on the market, but they are well worth the price. All in all, I am very happy with my new Protec case and can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Leaves glue residue on trumpet
I have a 70's bach stradivarius. When left in the case for longer than a few hours, it leaves a glue-y/sticky residue on the trumpet's lead pipe on both ends. I haven't left this alone since I'm too afraid to find out how difficult it would be to remove compounded residue, but it's very annoying that, somehow, some residue is pasting onto my trumpet. The trumpet also never sat completely snug in the case. The 1st valve is always pressed down just a little bit when I close the case.

Nearly perfect
After using this case for 5 years, I have been so satisfied with it. It holds everything that I need easily with room to spare (trumpet stand, music stand, straight mute, silent brass system), holds the trumpet well. The only reason I would replace this is if someone made a flugelhorn/trumpet combo bag that had the same storage space. There are a couple small details that I have noticed that aren't quite perfect, but they're not big issues either. the velcro that can hold the handles together is not the greatest, but that just has more to do with how it is subjected to more forces than the velcro closure that covers the zipper. Also, one of the rubber guards on the bottom of the case is starting to show signs of damage, but after 5 years of use I think that falls under normal wear and tear. If I had to get a new case for a trumpet, I would get this one every time.

Best instrument case on the market.
I bought two of these to replace the Protec Trumpet cases my wife and daughter have been using for the last 15 years. After all that time, the zippers became a bit stiff, a zipper pull fell off and the corners were starting to fray. The interior padding was still effective and I was told, in no uncertain terms, to ONLY get replacements if I could find EXACT replacements. I have since sold the old ones to folks with cases that fell apart and they are pleased as punch, also. Worth every penny - especially with the $50 off, each, from selling the old ones. If you want to protect your horn, get THIS case. It works. The old ones carried custom Bachs for 15 years with nary a scratch or dent, no matter how many times they were dropped out of a car or bus. It doesn't get any better than that. Protec is apply named. Get one. You'll be glad you did.

Neither music stand nor music fits? Really?
I put my horn in this case first, and I had to push the lid down considerably to get it closed. Then I tried my music stand and it wouldn't fit either. Then I tried to put a thin book of music in the side pouch and it wouldn't fit either. Wow...really guys? What do you think a musician might put in that inside space...or in that side pocket? After contemplating a return, I decided to keep the case anyway: After a short time, the padding adjusted to my horn and the lid began closing the way it should, I let my music stick out the top of the pouch (can't zip all the way closed but oh well), and I managed to get the stand to fit diagonally (extending beyond the mouthpiece) and the lid still closes...and I can still fit both a cup & straight mute as well. This case could have gotten 5 stars had it simply been designed to hold music and a music stand...duh. Three stars is all it deserves.
