  • 4.0 out of 5 stars If you want an affordable, two-stage, electric snow-blower, this one is it.
I'm new to the snow-blower field, so bear that in mind. My dad's snow-blower growing up was my brothers and me. I moved to the upper Midwest, and decided I wanted a snow-blower to make clearing a corner lot with double width sidewalks and a four car driveway a bit less work for my back. I decided on a two-stage because it's the upper Midwest, and an electric one because I had no clue what to do for maintenance on a gas blower, and I don't like exhaust fumes or storing fuel. Was debating between this one and the Ego two stage blowers. Picked this one up on an online Black Friday sale, it was only about $750, coming with a charger and battery - which meant it would be about half the price of the Ego brand, all told. Also picked up the Powersmart electric lawn-mower, so I'd have an electric lawn mower and a spare battery in the same ecosystem, Shipped pretty quickly, arrived mostly assembled and well packaged, just had to put on the handle, skid shoes, and hook ups. KEEP THE BOX - they will only accept returns in the original box, probably because of how heavy duty it is. I found that to get the blower out without breaking the box down, all I needed to do was tip it backwards, and use the already attached wheels to roll it out. Be careful doing this as the boxes with battery and charger were in by the blades. I've seen video reviews of these being packaged differently, so do what's appropriate for yours. Assembly: It really helps to have socket wrenches to assemble. We moved recently and I couldn't find my set, so I was struggling to put this together with my "stuff" drawer adjustable wrench. Still, I was able to do it, and of course found my socket wrenches the next day, SMH. The instructions were clear except for where the angle of the handlebar should be - the directions and images were all unclear on this. I angled it back towards me, which worked. There are extra pins, and enough hardware for everything else. I bought the "Pro" version which has manual levers running tension wires for adjusting chute angle and direction. The slightly cheaper option has electronic controls for these, and what looks like more comfortable grip controls. Both come with hardware for securing the various wires along the handles, but no instructions on installing them. I had to watch a video review to see what they were for. Charging and Power: The battery is 80V, big and hefty. Mine have been charging from empty to full in roughly 1.5 hours. They came with some charge on them. The company claims that you can clear an 18 car driveway of a certain amount of snow with one charge. My experience suggests that that's probably not quite accurate. I have a small driveway (about 2.5 cars long, 2 cars wide), but a corner lot with double length sidewalks. On one charge I can clear all the sidewalk, but it so far has run out right as I start on the driveway. That's roughly one hour of operation, but I think it wouldn't quite be enough for a giant driveway in any significant snow amount. Luckily, I have a second battery from the lawnmower, so I've got plenty of power to spare. I definitely recommend purchasing an extra battery (or other tools in the same ecosystem). Operating: I don't have any basis for comparison with other blowers, just with shoveling. I vastly prefer this to shoveling. So much easier on my back! Even minimal lifting of snow hurts my back, no problems here. The tires have pretty good tread and decent traction, but they do slip or stall at times in the snow. I've seen some reviews mentioning that this snow-blower doesn't handle uneven terrain very well, and that's fairly accurate. My sidewalk is pretty level, but the path leading to our front door is half destroyed by grass, and our driveway is very uneven. The snow-blower handles it alright, but not gracefully or perfectly. Be prepared to have to manually lift or adjust it on the fly as you hit snags, etc. The controls are meant for big hands, bigger than mine I would say, and the "Pro" version's levers for adjusting the chute are not precise - I struggled to get them to point where I wanted consistently. I find myself wishing I had bought the non-pro machine because it had the electronic controls, and they look more precise, as well as a bit less bulky on the handles. I bought this one because I figured more electronics is more stuff to go wrong, especially with lots of snow blowing around. I think that's still probably true, so it's a trade-off. I wonder if my wife, who has smaller hands than me will be able to use this much at all, though, which is part of why I wanted a blower. As a right handed person, I wish the one handed driving controls were on the right side, it's strange to me that they're on the left. I found it was only useful for turning and adjusting the chute without pausing, and otherwise, I used both hand controls for the auger and self-propulsion. In terms of performance, it's actually pretty decent - I was worried that I would sacrifice a lot of power not going with gas. So far I've used it on 4" of super wet, heavy snow a couple weeks back, and in the Christmas weekend blizzard of 2022 where we had snow anywhere from 4"-18" drifted up on our walks and driveways. It handled both alright. Part of this may be my inexperience with snow-blowers, but I did have to give it an extra push, or back up and run over a section again on occasion as I went. However, it did slowly chew it's way through about a 15' run of 18" deep snow on the sidewalk without significant trouble, just a reduction of speed, and had to push it a bit more. Our plows also send big chunks of ice and snow from the roads onto the sidewalks, and it ate those up just fine. This was in -10 weather with wind bringing it to -45, so it handled the cold pretty well, too. The only significant issue that I had was right at the start this morning's run. I got the augur rolling, engaged the self-propulsion, and it went a couple inches into the snow and then stopped - shutting down from some kind of fault. I checked it and couldn't find anything in the chute or by the blades. This was on smooth sidewalk. Eventually tried it just pushing the snow-blower at first, and realized the self-propulsion was shutting everything off. Once I pushed it manually a couple feet, the self-propulsion worked fine and I didn't have any more issues with it shutting itself off until the battery ran out. Don't know what was causing it, maybe the cold? It's got a two-year warranty, so I imagine if that continues, I'll contact Powersmart about it, but so far, I'm pretty satisfied. If you want an electric blower that won't break the bank and can handle the snow and cold, this one could be for you. I'll update if I have any more to share. ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Support lacking
This product is well priced and works well, when it works, but when it doesn't support is non-existent. Very slow response, no-one answers the phone, no service center and parts are not readily available. Can't even fix it yourself because there isn't even a service manual available. Local shops won't touch it for the same reasons. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and responsive customer service
I chose this battery snowblower for the reason of having minimal upkeep on it vs a gas blower. However, I personally don't think that this one is feasible in a MN winter. The machine itself has wonderful power and blows the snow quite far. However it's lighter weight makes it difficult to keep going as the tires will frequently spin on the heavier snow. Perhaps tire chains would help? Also, when I got into some of the deeper snow drifts, the machine just kept shutting down and I ended up borrowing my neighbors gas blower to finish my driveway. All in all, if you only get 4-6 inches of light snow at a time, this would be a great choice for you! I just don't think it's the right choice for a MN winter. I contacted the seller and explained that I wasn't satisfied with the electric blower, and I asked if there was anything that could be done since I was a couple weeks past the return window. They were very quick in their responses and after a couple days of conversation and working out a solution, they far exceeded my expectations. They are now sending me one of their nice gas blowers in exchange for the electric one I had purchased. I am very satisfied with the customer services care and willingness to help me meet my needs. I would highly recommend this brand/seller. Thank you Amerisun! ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Battery dies too fast
Bought this because it was the most highly rated batt. Op snowblower. Wanted to get away from having to deal with gas engines. Researching this it said it run 40+ minutes on a single charge. As I write this, I came home from work, had battery charging since morning; and did two passes down my driveway and it is dead!!! So frustrating. I will say, when itโ€™s charged it throws snow well (for about 5 minutes). I wanted to buy a second battery to charge while I was using the first, but it costs around $280 and needs about 2.5 hours to charge. I will be switching back to a gas powered engine. ... show more

When it worked it worked great. Mine had a problem with the switch, had to return it. No problem with the return and refund.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars This is the worst snow blower you could ever purchase, and the seller is even worse.
The media could not be loaded. This product seemed like a good idea. When it works, it works great. There is a bad sensor, or something wrong that makes the unit shut off for no apparent reason--but usually around or near something electrical or metal, such as a metal shed, vehicle, buried power line, etc. The real issue is with the seller. Their customer service number is not answered. They refuse to fix the issue. They do not have a support network where someone can fix it locally. They refuse to refund or replace it. Customer service is someone named Melody who emails, but likely not in the US and has no care about doing the right thing. I've sent pics, videos, and whatever else they have asked. Still no fix. It's not a battery issue. The battery works fine. I have been dealing with this issue now for more than two months. Amazon is practically worthless. Their 'trusted' seller means nothing. The A to Z guarantee is about as good as you might think it would be. Not at all. Because at this point, I've had the machine for more than 90 days, the seller would like it returned before a refund could be issued, at my expense. This thing weighs about 140 lbs, and I have no box to send it in. Like, really? Do not buy this under any circumstances, lest you too have a broken snow blower in your yard forever. You won't want it, and, the seller doesn't want it either. ... show more
