  • Works well, like advertised…
Fixed our issue, only thing is that this is our third one in 11 years, perhaps they could improve the design?

  • Works well for me - make sure you register your product
I bought the IC60 to replace my 4+ year old IC40 that was reaching the end of its useful life. I upgraded to the IC60 because I never felt my IC40 was adequate for my 28,000 gallon pool. Pentair specifications says that the IC40 should be plenty for my sized pool but my experience would disagree. Even before the IC40 started slowing down, I was running 18 hours a day at 100% and still needed to add bleach every week or so to get back up to 6ppm. I got some good advice from my friends at Trouble Free Pool dot com that upgrading to the IC60 would solve my problem. I got a price from a pool service I've used before. An IC 60 installed would have been around $1,400. I bought the IC 60 at Amazon for $735 which is closer to $700 after the 5% cash back for using my Amazon VISA. Installation was a breeze. It took about 7 minutes. After I turned the power back on, the new SWG fired up fine. My salt level, which had been reported as "low" for weeks showed 3600 on the Diagnostics menu on my EasyTouch. The "check cell" warning was clear and "flow" was green. I turned on "super chlorination" as my FC tested 0.5 right before I installed the new SWG. Sunday afternoon, after about 20 hours of runtime, the FC was up to 5.0. If you are reading these reviews you will see a lot of people complaining about only getting a 60 day warranty if you install one of these yourself. That may have been true at some point. I don't know. But it isn't the case now. If you register your product with Pentair within 60 days of installation you get a 2 year warranty. I registered my SWG online and uploaded my Amazon order summary as proof of purchase. I'm glad I did because a few months after I installed my iC60 I started getting an erroneous "low salt" reading. I called Pentair and they sent out a tech who determined the flow switch had gone bad. He replaced it and I am up and running. I was very happy with how Pentair stood behind their product and repaired it quickly without any discussion. So buy your own and save big money! ... show more

  • Good product overall, but . . .
This is the 3rd Intellichlor unit we've purchased. First one (IC-40) lasted about 4 yrs. Previous one (IC-40) lasted less than a year - salt level sensor crapped out. Didn't want to hassle with Pentair for warranty. Checked extensively online and found very good review and information from an experienced pool installer with tips. As result, we purchased this IC-60 to run at lower level with same results. The Intellichlor does a good job of introducing chlorine into your pool with occasional bag of food-grade, non-iodized salt poured directly into the water. Installation is painless - even for the non-mechanical folks - just be sure to follow their directions. Let's hope this one lasts significantly longer - especially for the HUGE PRICETAG! (Note: Pool installer indicated that Pentair decreased their original 3-year warranty to 1-year warranty some time back! Makes one wonder . . . ) Update: 9/8/19 Marking it down from 4 to 3 stars! I spoke too soon. Although I still like the IntelliChlor overall, this IC-60 which we just purchased here on Amazon.com, had a bad flow switch after only about 6 wks of use. I contacted Pentair after registering the product (NOTE: Pentair will only honor their warranty IF you register the product within 60 days of purchase! If purchased alone - not with the power unit - they'll warranty for 2 years.) and described what was wrong (kept reading "0" salt level when my digital tester registered 4200). Pentair said it needed a new flow switch. However after about 10-14 days of back and forth, they couldn't find a pool company willing to come to our house (we live in southern part of Napa County, CA!?!). So they're sending me a brand new unit. In the meantime, I cleaned up our old one (muratic acid clean per Pentair) and it's working fine at 8 yrs old and counting! Let's hope the new IC-60 will last longer than a couple of month. ... show more

  • IC60 keeps my levels normal in the south HOT sun.
I had an IC40 for bout 6 years. I think it was starting to go so I went bigger and upgraded to the IC60 for 2 reasons. 1) It utilizes the same power supply as the IC40, so I didn't need to upgrade that. 2) In Oklahoma we have HOT Summers in upwards of 100* for weeks and the pool is full sun, and it seems the IC40 just couldn't keep up. I'd start to get algae growth even with the IC40 on 100 percent around some dead spots in the vinyl pool. It would get into the little divots and be difficult to remove. For 2 seasons now, the IC60 has kept up and I've had NO algae anywhere and my chlorine levels stay normal. During the peak summer, I have the IC60 at 60% I run our pump/filter system about 8hrs-day. 4 in the morning - 4 in the evening to escape the price hike during peak times from our electric company. 28,800 Vinyl Inground. ... show more

  • IC60 Replaced IC40 Without Issue
My IC40 salt cell failed after about 6 years -- the blinking green light would not reset in spite of cleaning etc. The pool clearly had an issue as the water became less clear very quickly. I purchased this -- was delivered within 48 hours, well packed. The installation took less than 2 minutes, and within 8 hours you could tell the product was doing its thing and doing it well. The water cleared up and all systems were go. I read an interesting report about the production of chlorine by this cell... specifically how much is produced over a 24 hour period versus the IC40. I decided to upgrade and operate this cell in a reduced percentage mode with the idea of making it last longer. Very happy with the purchase, delivery, install and operation. Great stuff. ... show more
