Description

Hygrometer Holder for Guitar. The Oasis Hygrometer Holder was created to enable you to measure the humidity at the body of your guitar without risk of scratching the soundboard. Accurate humidity measurement is only possible when the hygrometer is positioned near the area where the humidifier is located. Guitar cases are designed with a cradle to support the neck of the guitar. This is also where the supply/accessory box is located, which creates a humidity barrier. Thus placing a humidifier at the headstock humidifies the head and neck but not the guitar body, and placing a humidifier in the sound hole humidifies the body of the guitar but not the headstock. Placing a hygrometer either at the supply box or the headstock won't provide accurate humidity measurements if the humidifier is located in the sound hole. The Oasis Guitar Hygrometer Holder solves this problem by allowing placement of the hygrometer by the sound hole of your guitar near your humidifier. How does it work? Made from a soft loop Velcro type material, it wraps around the first string and provides a flat surface where the hygrometer can be attached. An adhesive backed piece of hooked Velcro type material is attached to the back of the hygrometer.

    • Works as advertised, but kind of a pain to attach/detach if you move your guitar a lot or store your case vertically.
Kind of gimmicky & kind of a pain to use if you store your guitar or move it where you have to wrap & unwrap the velcro repeatedly around the high E string. I store my guitar case flat & don't have to attach the holder unless I plan to move it. The Holder holds the hygrometer/thermometer in place really well. If you use it as directions, it's on the far side of the guitar strings when you open the case. (Btw, I use the Caliber IV hygrometer/thermometer as a much less expensive & just as accurate monitor compared to the Oasis model. They appear to be made by the same manufacturer & they're 2/3 the price.) Also, the Oasis guitar case hydrating unit works really well.     • Too bulky
The product is way too thick. It is two layers of fabric, folded on the edges and sewn. Making it four layers around the edges. Then add the Velcro strip. That’s 5+ layers of fabric. Now fold the 5 layers over the string and attach it to the four layers under it, and you have 9+ layers of fabric. To make a long story short, if you have a well fitting hard case, there is not room for the hygrometer and this holder. You could damage your instrument. They could have done better. ... show more

I’m using this with a Martin in its case. Recently went out of town for a week. Upon return I could immediately see how well my humidification system held up while I was gone. You can see the range with a few clicks and a glance. This monitoring system let me know that my planet waves humidipak system worked flawlessly with no other active humidification in the house. It's a handy thing to have as long as you understand what you're getting. It's just a bit of cloth that wraps around a string and gives you a place to stick your Oasis Hygrometer that you already own. I rotate it around a couple of solid wood ukuleles just to make sure nothing unexpected is happening with the humidity. These things aren't perfect but it gives some assurance that things are basically in range. ... show more

    • Fits nicely on a ukulele in a hard case.
This holder is certainly simple to use - just wrap the velcro around one string. I use this on a ukulele - at first I was concerned that the holder might be too large to fit a ukulele, but it works fine. I do remove it whenever I take the ukulele out of it's cast.
