After a year and a half of dental procedures involving antibiotic use I developed GI problems which I first thought was due to lactose intolerance. Not knowing what to expect I started off with one table/day and to my surprise within 3 days my symptoms began disappearing and after a week they were virtually gone. I have had chronic acid reflux for about two years and have been taking Prilosec during flare ups. I had my first bout with stomach damage from the reflux two years ago and took Prilosec for a few weeks to alleviate the symptoms. Throughout the next two years, I began taking OTC prilosec and Zegrid increasingly. About 4 months ago my symptoms returned and were more severe than previously. I took 40mg Prilosec for nearly 11 weeks before I was feeling well again and visited the doctor on numerous occasions for persistent issues. During that time, I began to research side effects of Prilosec and long term issues of reflux disease and the medications associated with it (I'm a scientist, its in my nature). I also noted that most people become dependent on proton pump inhibitors for normal digestive function, which lead me to Advanced Probiotic. After stopping Prilosec cold, I started taking 2 Advanced probiotics daily, Kefir, and 2 ginger root pills (slippery elm added later). For the first 4-5days, I experience horrible rebound acid, but by the 6th-7th day, I noticed that the probiotic was significantly easing my symptoms. By day 8, I was virtually symptom free.
