  • Great Bike!
Color: Matte Black Size: 27.5"
I originally was going to fork over about $2,500 for a full-suspension bike then randomly saw some electric mountain bike ads. After doing a bunch of research I picked the NCM Moscow, it is just a great value. It seems to be of higher quality (they are made in Germany) than many others I saw on Amazon. Also, I found a review online that was pretty thorough in speaking about the bike. Some comments about the bike: • It didn't look that hard to put together but I used the Amazon service which worked well. • The bike has six levels of assist and a throttle. • It also has a USB port so you can charge your phone off of the battery. • The battery seems to last longer than I expected. • So you can use this manually to get exercise but having the electric capability it really opens up the distances you can go. It is also helps limit fatigue from riding up hills. • The motor itself is really quiet which is great. • The tires are Schwalbe Smart Sams which are a compromise between a trail and road tire. Someone characterized it as 70% trail. The tires do work fairly well on the road compared to pure mountain bike tires and they seem to grip well in the dirt. I was looking into swapping them out but I don't see much reason to do so. • The only negative to me is that given the battery there are not as many opportunities to attach things to the frame such as water bottle, pump, etc. I ended up getting a cargo bag that hangs off of the seat and connects to the post which also carries a water bottle and is big enough to place a small pump inside. • Lastly, you should realize that electric bikes are much heavier than conventional bikes, this one weighs more than double my mountain bike. It just changes the riding dynamics a bit. Harder to go up hills without aid, but overall a lot more fun. Overall very happy with it. Just an update, I have had the bike for several months now. It has held together well. I decided to turn it into more of a pure mountain bike and swapped out the tires for Maxxis mountain bike tires what are also wider. Also the front shock that comes with this bike is not great, it is a lower end spring shock, so I upgraded to a true air shock, a RockShox. I added a ThudBuster seat post because this is a hardtail which is a good compromise compared to paying for a full-suspension bike which can be pricey. With these changes I have taken the bike on some pretty crazy mountain trails and it has held together really well. (see second picture for changes). So overall I am happy with the bike. ... show more

  • My new mid-life toy
Color: Matte Black Size: 29"
Okay I have been interested in E-Bikes since seeing them on YouTube videos. I hemmed and hawed over buying one until I scoped them out and saw that there are a bunch of types and models to choose from. Size was my concern, as I am 6' 3" tall. And weigh 250 pounds. I am also 67 years old. Yeah I know I should be careful, but love to cycle around the neighborhood. After many viewings of many E-Bikes I finally decided on the NCM Moscow 29 inch. I ordered it on September 6, and on Friday the 13th the bike was delivered. The box was a little banged up. There were three holes, one at the top of the fork. Luckily no damage to the bike. Anyway have used it several times and find it to be a lot of fun. Was amazed at how the pedal assist works and after a few minutes was used to the motor kicking in when I began to pedal. The top speed is said to be 20 mph. Let me say that is fast, too fast for me. This is also the first bike I have ever owned with disc brakes. Very good and work well. The front fork is adjustable and absorbs bumps well. The battery use is very, very good as well, I tried the pedal assist at level 3 and found it to be too fast for me. Use it at level 1 and find it to be just right and have only used a small amount of the battery. I find this bike to be also big. At 6, 3 I have to adjust the seat post to a low position because my feet barely reach the ground when I am seated on the saddle. I looked at FAT bikes and am glad I got this bike instead. The shipping weight is about 75 pounds, but the bike is about 65 pounds, so have to make sure I or lighter riders are aware of the fact this is not a regular bike, and treat it for what it is, a heavy bike. The controls are very well laid out, the display and the shifters and brake levers are all very good. ... show more

  • Bike was not assembled correctly
Color: Matte Black Size: 27.5"
I road it for about 1 week on the streets before it failed on me. Currently, it's in the bike repair shop being worked on. Costs $205 so far, may be more with parts, the seller did say they would pay for this, but It's not finished yet. I don't know the extent of the issues but so far this is what I know so far: 1. Both the front and rear spoke tensions were not correct. This caused a major failure of the rear wheel - 5 spokes broke after 27 miles of the smooth road. 2 - the front fork was put on backwards, has to be fully disassembled and fixed. 3. The breaks were not adjusted right and were very soft -- have to squeeze them all the way to get them to grab. 4. The battery is starting the squeak badly after just 1 week. I'm going to have to add some thin EPA foam to tight it up so it does not make noise. If the bike was assembled correctly, it might be a good value, but it was not for me. Overall the battery lasts a long time, but I wish it had a bit more power and the gearing is not high end for road use. Its hard to go past 20mph since the top gear runs out about then. I find the low gears useless for my use, even with some hills. Update: Was able to get the wheel fixed after taking it to REI, the seller offered to pay for 50% of the fix. Was about $200 total to rebuild the bike ($100 out of my pocket). After about a month of use the breaks really resonate a lot after they get hot. I may be looking to upgrade the brakes to something that lasts longer or does not make as much noise. I may try changing the pads, but I have not done that yet. ... show more
