  • Amazing
My son got this and consistently plays with it. He absolutely loves taking it out to our farms field.

  • Hit or miss
Hard to find a metal detector with good reviews … but landed on this one due to better reviews than others. Unfortunately the first one we got didn’t work (at first wouldnt turn on… then came on but beeped non stop). But we’re able to exchange it and the new one works as expected! Daughter is loving it. Very fun. But not sure how sensitive it is. Grandma threw some coins in the sand and we had trouble locating them … but we also aren’t expecting this to be professional level we aren’t looking for pirate chests here so for the element of fun and an outdoor family activity - it’s absolutely perfect ... show more

  • Perfect for kids
My boys wanted to try out metal detecting and decided to use their holiday money on these. They seem to work great when tested around the house. Tried at the beach with no success yet but looking forward to getting out more with these

  • Future Fortune Hunter
Somehow my granddaughter came across metal detectors on YouTube. We watched quite a few videos of people hunting with them, and before we went on vacation she wanted one more than she wanted TikTok on her phone. I decided to surprise her, which was excruciating waiting for the day to come. But it did, and she went at it with excitement. We did a few practice runs at a lakeside which yielded some un-interesting objects. Lost tin snips, window ballasts, sardine cans, no true treasure;-{ We next went to the ocean, the tides are low and the rocks had so many minerals in it, the detector kept signaling. At least that's what our neighbor told us who was out there with his detector also. So all in all I think for a kid it worked out great, although she was soooo discouraged by not finding anything at the ocean beach, it does signal pretty good. For what it's worth-if you are getting this for a very young person, I would chum the area a bit with something exciting to find. Wish I had thought of it sooner. ... show more

  • Great Customer Service
The one that I ordered was from a batch of defective units. The detection buzzer never shuts off. I called the customer service phone number and they were very helpful and sent a tested good unit out FedX. Great service!

  • It's for a 7 year old
I originally purchased this in February for my 7 year old son. We took it to the beach, he had a blast and then we didn't have a chance to use again until recently. I took it out last week and wound up encountering the same issues I saw others had posted about with the light constantly blinking. I emailed Nat Geo. They emailed me back within hours and immediately sent a replacement, with zero hassle. I am not expecting to find something 73' deep with this, we will see how this replacement works out, but..the Nat Geo customer service couldn't have been better. They did an excellent job. ... show more

  • Great for beginners and customer service is fantastic!
We bought this for our 10 year old son for Christmas. He loved it, but we live in Maine so he wasn't really able to use it till spring cause of snow on the ground. Well this April it started acting weird and was overly sensitive to things and would beep even if pointed towards the sky!. We were bummed because he barely got to use it. It was difficult tracking down someone to talk to (Call centers are shut down a but during covid), but they emailed back and shipped us a new one free of charge. They were very easy to work with and very fast. This new one has been great and seems to be even better than the first one. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Didn’t detect anything.
bought two for my kids who were super excited to try them at the beach. Units turn on and squeal and all, but don’t seem to detect anything except each other when they are too close. We even “salted” the area the boys were searching with coins and the detectors failed to locate them. The pieces that slot in and strap to the kids arms also trended to come off the main unit, so they were kind of a bust all around. Might try the “pro series” version but we’ll see if the fascination lasts after all that. ... show more
