abunda_amazon_reviews I've used Nathan flasks with my Nathan belt for a few years. I found that running in the Summer a frozen bottle will melt within about an hour - turns to warm water quickly. When I learned that they made an insulated flask, I decided to try it. It actually works well. The liquid stays cold for about 2 hours on a hot run. You won't make it through a full marathon with cold water but you can make it through a 1/2. I'm still experimenting with them. When I ran this last Saturday in hot weather (60 degrees at 6:30 am), the first bottle was still too frozen to get much liquid to drink during the 1st hour of the run. Next week I'll try one of the older bottles to drink during the 1st hour since it will have melted more. Then I'll use the insulated bottle for the 2nd hour. On the negative side, it seems that the screw-on top does not fit as tightly as the older bottles or the new valve does not stay tightly closed because I have drink constantly spilling on my shorts. I'll watch it next time to make sure that I have it closed tightly.;;Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2014;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Nathan Insulated Flask Work Well;;Steve;;;I'm so disappointed. These bottles leak really bad. No matter how well I try to put the lid on, they still leak. :( Update: I ordered Nathan replacement lids and they work great on these bottles - no more leakage. So the lids are the problem. I bought 4 of these bottles and all 4 leaked, but not anymore with the new lids. But I shouldn't have to spend $10 on new lids for new bottles. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009UOXMIO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nathan Race Cap-Pack of 3, Silver;;Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2017;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;They leak!;;LB;;;I purchased these as a replacement for the bottles that came with my belt when they began to leak. I've only used the bottles twice so far and the bottles have been performing well so far. As the weather has been really warm here in Chicago since I have had the bottles I cannot discuss how well they has been keeping water cool as its gotten warm rather quickly. So I am not sure if the insulation is helping or not. The tops/nipples the bottles come with are good when you use them but as someone mentioned prior as you run water freely comes out and douses you and have replaced them with the pull tops from my original bottles. In general I'm satisfied but do think they are a bit over priced as I can't really see the improvement over the single walled bottles that came with my belt originally.;;Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2019;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;So far so good;;Jeffrey Vasilatos;;;I upgraded to these from standard 8oz bottles that come with the 2 belts I wear, a Nathan speeddemon belt and a Nathan Speed 4R belt, and they fit perfectly. I prefer the blast cap style that these come with, they have only leaked on the back of me once so far and it was only because I accidently cross threaded one. The blast cap is nice, no fumbling, just squeeze. Crazy great reflectivity they flash amazing. Insulation. These do stay cooler longer than standard bottles with cold water straight out of the tap. I have found filling 1/4 full of water and freezing the bottle will allow the water to stay cooler way longer than filling with ice cubes. By doing this, I have found in a typical 21-23 Celsius run, the ice will have fully melted at approx 45-50 min into the run, and the water will remain acceptably cool-ish to about 1hr35min-1hr 45min into the run. By filling with ice cubes,I have found in the same outside temperature the ice cubes will be fully melted 35 min into the run, and the water will be warm by about 1hr 10min into the run. By no means do these have super insulating powers nor do they claim to be. They simply have the same Grey plastic inner liner soft sided coolers have, and an air gap between the inner water liner and the flask shell which simply helps keep water cooler a little while longer. If you use water on 5K or 10K runs they will keep it ice cold for you the whole workout in mild weather, and for your longer runs the water should be reasonably cool for the first hour and a half or so. i have found this product to be the best flask for keeping some water cool without having to move into an insulated hydration vest.
