A lot of the 5700 XT's have gotten bad reviews because of buggy drivers, but this has not been the case for me. I plugged the card in, installed the recommended driver, and that was pretty much it. Since it had been a long time since using a PC for gaming, I decided to benchmark it with The Witcher III. Everything ran just fine on max settings. I tried Sea of Thieves on max settings, and it ran just fine. I will note that the cooling fans were screaming loud once I got on Sea of Thieves, but the level of sound I would attribute to the PC being more open in design, allowing more sound to bleed out. Because the card is just doing what it's supposed to, fan noise doesn't bother me. I would say this card is working out very well for me. And for the price, I'm very satisfied with it. With MSI having quality motherboards, I went against the reviews and hoped the drivers and the MSI thermal pad issue had been updated. I was very wrong. This card is too loud to get just mediocre performance. Even running the base clock it's louder than my OG PS4 ever was (partly due to my high air flow V21 case). Don't think about running the OC setting in Adrenaline because it will sound like a jet. In fact my wife was worried we had a massive water leak in the house because of the noise. In the end, rather than do any modifications, I just returned it and ordered the Gigabyte card since Gamers Nexus rated it the best overall card.;;Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2020;;3.0 out of 5 stars;;Too loud for mediocre performance;;Christopher Lowdermilk;;;Was shopping in the $300 price range when I saw this refurbished 5700 XT Mech OC for $320 & couldn't say no, but... Advertised clocks: 1925/1815MHz (Boost/Game) My card did not come with these set by default. Instead it came set to roughly 2100/1950MHz @1.2v. Which caused the card to thermal throttle, hitting 110-113C Junction/hotspot under load. When I reapplied the thermal paste, fixed the thermal pads, & set the card to 1925MHz Boost clock myself, it dropped down to around 100-105C. I was then able to undervolt to 1.05v for that same 1925MHz Boost clock to get the temps under control. This is why I cannot give more than a 3-star review for this GPU. This much effort should not be required to make sure the card isn't going to fry itself... That said... I now have the card running with the water cooler from my old R9 290 at almost 2100MHz 24/7 boost clock & 1800MHz memory clock @ 1.2v for junction/hotspot temps in the high 80C to low 90C range & the card is on par with an RTX 2080 Super according to my Fire Strike scores(29,000).
