  • Good plow for the money
Used this plow all last winter to plow my 500' blacktop driveway with my 05 f150. It gets the job done and is a good plow for the money. Make sure you keep a few extra CR2016 batteries on hand in case the remote dies or you'll be in trouble when they go. If I had a chance to buy it again, I'd go with the power angle model. The auto angle does exactly what it's supposed to, but if I'm trying to plow the snow to the right and i hit some snow on the left side, it will kick the snow into the middle of my driveway. A little annoying, but I can't complain because it's a good plow for the money. You can also use a pin to lock the plow to one side. ... show more

  • I too would like a direct hookup versus remote
ok for light duty. doing your own driveway, batteries did not work, right out of box. Call customer service, told me to go BUY new batteries.....so I did (I really thought they should have just sent two to me.) You need two CR2016,Ok replaced batteries, still did not work, called Customer Service,. After replacing batteries you need to sync the remote. So directed to take receiver out of holder and push little white button (little red light comes on) push up button on remote, red light goes out, and now your remote is synced. Now the electric motor runs! I did a 4" snowfall and it worked well. I too would like a direct hookup versus remote. But for the price it is an acceptable light duty unit. Easy to put on and take off. Would have gave another star had Customer service been satisfactory. So Plows a four, but CS earns it a minus one. CS representative could not tell me the size of remote battery or number of batteries. Purchase batteries at $2.99 each, so for $6 and change I could use the unit. Takes a very small Philips screw driver to take remote apart and best to tighten just a bit to break loose and then back the screws out, otherwise you will strip the head of the screw. so be careful with that process. Also when retightening make sure buttons move freely or you will clamp down the up or down button when tightening the screws, if blue light stays on you have not correctly done it. so back off screws and make sure rubber button is not caught on frame of remote, then retighten screws..yeah kinda of a pain, but you will figure it out. ... show more

  • Good plow but serious weaknesses
I purchased the auto angling with wireless controller. For the most part it is a good plow. It does the job. Cons Wireless controller design is flawed. The wireless controller arrived not functioning. After speaking with tech support, I was told to buy new batteries for the wireless controller. (They ain't cheap at $6 and you need two) after installing the new batteries I realized just why they weren't working. As soon as you tighten the screws on the wireless controller, it begins to transmit, no wonder they were dead on arrival. I purchased the shoe kit at $240. It ain't cheap, so I would expect them to stay on. They don't! They fell off on first use, and when your plowing in 6 inches of snow, it builds up and not knowing when the shoes fall off they disappear under all that snow. There goes $240 dollars. Pros Apart from that it works. But paying so much for a plow one would expect to have these things worked out. Imagine buying a car and the key doesn't work, or the wheels fall off. Inexcusable! Meyer should do their homework a little better before selling this plow at that price. Right now as it stands, it's a equivalent to a $1200 plow. ... show more

  • FOB didn't work
Another case of the FOB not working on delivery. Since the other reviews said it was an in going problem decided to wire it direct to a rocker switch in the cab. The plow itself works great once the controller works.

  • Not that good
I purchased the 24000 model and after using have come to the conclusion that IF you are interested in a LIGHT DUTY snow plow, HIGHLY recommend getting the 25000 model instead! All though these 2 plows both use the Auto-Angling System, the main other differences are the 24000 uses an electric motor for lift, while the 25000 uses hydraulics AND has the option of either wired or wireless control. This is where my low rating comes into play. The 24000 DOES NOT have the option of WIRED control, either at original purchase or later from Meyer itself! Why does this matter? Well, I'm now on the third wireless control/fob in less than 2 months!!! They come as a set and if you're out of warranty will set you back $100. Meyer has been fast to send replacements but has stated that they have NO plans to come out with a wired controller for the 24000 model. I would like to recommend the 24000 model BUT can't due to the wireless controller. It's very frustrating when pressing the up or down button and nothing happens! or when pressing a button the moldboard just quits moving and the only way to get it moving again is to release and re-press the button! I like the Auto-Angling System, the fact that it's fairly easy to hook up the plow, is designed for light plowing BUT I would have purchased the 25000 model had I known about the wireless controller intermittent operation problem! I plan to see if I can find someone to rewire the system, after the warranty expires, to a wired controller. I just hope it won't cost more than the current $300 price difference between the 2 models. PS: I too had to buy new batteries for the key fob. Seems this is quite common. Meyer knows of this problem and that's why they recommend yearly replacement. ... show more
