  • Terrible! Save your money!
Size: ZN-50mm F1.2Emount
Meiki should be ASHAMED. This lens is awful. TLDR: the focus throw is 1/4 a turn. With an f/4 this would be okay but at f/1.2 this is unusable unless youre shooting a still subject with a tripod Like you, I saw the attractive price point of this lens and the 1.2 aperture and thought “it might be great and I love shooting manual”. I’ve also bought meiki products and lenses before so I knew what to expect. Sharp cheap well built lenses with a nice build quality and Awful flare control (you gotta cheap out somewhere). This is what I expected from this lens. However there are some glaring problems which make the lens downright UNUSABLE. The worst of which is that the focus throw is a QUARTER TURN. This means that you by moving the focus ring a millimeter, the razor thin depth of field moves back and fourth a full INCH. I’m not exaggerating on any measurements here it’s that bad. This renders the lens useless. I would expect ANY 1.2 lens to have at LEAST a 1/3 turn focus throw but 1/4 is outrageous. If youre thinking you can stomach that please just don’t and spend 80 more dollars on the Rokinon 1.4. The t-value on this lens is compatible to the T1.5 Rokinons and they’re much better lenses. It is sharp though but the chromatic abberation and the flaring is terrible. But those are after thoughts as that is to be expected for a cheap 1.2. The build quality is also excellent but it’s not weather sealed ... show more
