abunda_amazon_reviews I just got this smoker. The Amazon sizing is wrong. This smoker is the same size as the master built 30" smokers. It appears to be well made and assembled easily. I only did a 3 hour seasoning run as described in the instructions. It heated quickly and did a good job of controlling temperature. It is well insulated and is quite spacious. I will update this review after some usages. update: Smoked a 5 lb pork shoulder yesterday and it came out perfect. It came really well packed. I was able to quickly put it together and did the 3hr seasoning the directions called for. We’ve smoked some ribs and a brook trout my son caught both turned out awesome. Only reason I gave it four stars is because when you need to reload the wood chips you have to open the main door and all the smoke goes out. Spent 20 minutes on hold when I called the company only to find out that the control panel is on backorder until the end of February. They gave me 2 options, return it to Amazon or wait. Rather then have to find a new box to send in back in and wait to possibly get another dud I opted to wait. Will see what happens.;;January 11, 2019;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;2 stars because they finally answered the phone;;GW COF;;;I purchased this smoker to replace my Masterbuilt propane smoker that served me well for 5 years but was ready to be put down this spring (RIP). The build quality is pretty good, it feels solid. There's a bit more to assemble than you'd want because of the way it's tightly packaged, but it doesn't take long to build. There's very little smoke leakage from the door (some smoke in the corner, versus my Masterbuilt with required me to get high-temp gasket sealant and put around the entire door). The real problem is the electronic components. No, the real problem is their customer support, but let's talk about electronics. This is an electric smoker, after all. I do most of my work at 225, trying to get my beautiful pork shoulders to 203f. With the electronic control set to 225 and the timer set for 10 hours I let it do its thing. On my first smoke I used a few other tools to verify the temperature. Here are my problems: - The ambient temperature was too low. In order for it to reach 225 I had to set it to 240. Measured with a properly calibrated iGrill thermometer. The only thing that sets this apart from a fancy metal box is the electronic control panel. If you can't trust the control panel this is just an expensive metal box. - The probe sensor was reading +20f too high. Meat is 160? probe sensor in the control panel think it's 180! Measured with the same iGrill mentioned above as well as two other stick probes (and 2 other probe cables using a standard 2.5mm jack) just to confirm. Everything pointed to the control panel reading +20f more for the probe sensor. If you've done your fair share of smoking you can also tell that the reading was obviously off just by picking or attempting to shred the meat. The sensor in this thing sucks. First, I went to their website to read documentation. The link to this model's PDF was 404 (file not found) and the product wasn't even listed on their website. I contacted support and asked if they had any known issues about the control panel. Two days later, after the email (using their official support mailer on their site) was marked as spam, someone gets back to me. This is theme: they take 2 days to respond to any email. The support person asked for order details to verify my warranty, which I supplied. I then asked, again, if this was a known issue and why the model was no longer listed on their website. They ignored my questions and about a week later told me I need to buy a probe from them (for $15 + shipping) and said I can only order it by calling since it's not available on their website, amazon, or cabela's. I asked if they could simply replace the electronic controller, they ignored my question. They asked -- again -- for information about my purchase to "verify my warranty". I guess scrolling up in the email when I previously answered this was too hard. This was all handled by the same customer service rep, by the way. I wasn't being juggled around multiple people who needed the info again. If you managed to get a Smoke Hollow device that works correctly, great. If you don't, do not bother with their customer support and just return it and buy a better brand. As much as I want to, I won't call out the crappy support person I dealt with and I hope that person does not represent the entire company.;;April 21, 2019;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;Bad electronics and even worse customer support.
