  • Good smoker for the money
Great packing but UPS still managed to put a gouge in the box. No damage but 2 of feet were scratched up even though they were not attached yet and were in foam wrap. Ive owned this smoker B4. This ones burner works much better than the old 1 I had. Blue flame. I also owned the 40" version Masterbuilt. Never got blue flame. This is a great smoker for the money but the burner and smoke bowl will not last long. Flimsy. One year warranty. Be prepared to do some assembly. Ton of packing and boxing to recycle as well. Update 8/8/19...13 months since purchase. Probably used twice a month. Good results 9 out of 10 times once you learn how to use it. Use water pan directly underneath ribs and away from flame. Use only one chunk of wood at a time on as low as the valve will go. Cook butts up high but no water pan. Leave smoke slots barely open. Now having said all that mine would not light today. No gas going to burner. Tried 2 different full propane tanks. Could be trash in gas line or in valve. Called Masterbuilt multiple times to day. Stayed on hold 15 mins 1st time. Left call back number. After 30 mins they did not call back. Called again and waited on hold 30 mins. LEft call back number and they finally called back but got dud CSR who didn't know a gas smoker from fluffy when she was a kitten. Almost cussed her out and asked for her supervisor who was conveniently on break. Hours later and she has not called back. 90 DAY WARRANTY folks. They really have a lot of confidence in their products. Now I am just trying to buy the parts from them to fix it and had to leave a call back number for that. They want you to use their website for everything but parts ordering is not enabled their. I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRODUCT SUPPORT. Dont want to buy a Traeger but Im going to have to look around for my next smoker which may be sooner than later. Only way I would buy another MB smoker is to buy 2 and keep one just for parts. The bottom is already starting to rust out of this one after a year. My big MB smoke house smoker lasted a lot longer. May have to buy another one of those and some spare pts. Bought a Weber gas grill about 3 or 4 years ago and everything inside it is rusting out and the igniter system quit. I got an igniter and some burner covers under warranty. You just can't buy anything worth a hoot anymore. ... show more

  • Almost perfect smoker
Plenty of space for most smoke jobs. Only issue is that it runs hot even with the valve turned all the way down. I like to smoke meat at 225 degrees but this smoker will only go as low as 245 deg. I guess the regulator could be changed to a smaller one.

  • I love this cooker
This is my second time purchasing this unit. I love the way it cooks. I do recommend getting a cheap bag of lava rocks and putting them in the wood chip pan, this will help the unit hold temperature so much better than without. It will also help prevent the chip from flaring up(but be sure to soak them). Follow the directions and season the new unit, and from time to time after, I live in a coastal climate(ie. salt air) and my first one put in over 7 years of work. Finally, most dial thermometers can be off by up to 50 degrees, purchase a good digital probe thermometer and you’ll be making some good que in no time(well actually many hours of waiting and cold beer sippin, but you get the idea!) ... show more

  • Got my bang for the bucks
The pan holding liquid is small and having a barrier around it due to the wind helps. I enjoyed it and got a head cold sitting out or hours getting used to it. Now that I have it my next wild pig ham will be even better not that there was any left. My turkey wing jerky (hudge wings) was also a hit and the turkey breast my neighbor ate in two sittings. I do like my smoker and since it will be used 4 to 5 times a year, well worth the money. ... show more

  • Smoker review
Overall I think it is a good product for the money. However I would have to agree with some of the other comments written, I feel the doors could use some more firming up. Also it was mentioned in one of the reviews about applying BBQ gasket seal around the edges. I would have to agree I think a better seal will help with maintaining the heat and smoke flavor. ... show more

  • Easy temperature control
I’m not sure why I see complaints about temperature control. I get mine just bellow 200. There’s a small vent in the back that helps with temperature control. Heat rises so the rack is cooler than the top rack. I’ve inserted a smart thermometer and the temperature of the environment is perfect for smoking meats and vegetables for hours. I smoked brisket for 8 hours and it was perfectly fine and men, I’m never buying BBQ again! FYI: I’m assuming that hot days will affect the temperature of the smoker. I’m in Oregon and it hasn’t gotten hot yet. ... show more

  • It works
Replaced a old electric unit. This was easy to assemble if you follow the directions. wish there was a option on placing the controls, but not a deal breaker. Uses little propane and heats up quick. Racks assemble easy and fit our dish washer. I bolted ours down on a moving dolly to easily move it around our patio. ... show more
