abunda_amazon_reviews This is a product that doesn't really know what it wants to be. On the one hand, it has flashing colored lights suggesting it is yet another party speaker for 20 year olds playing a lot of hip-hop or house music. On the other hand, the digital signal processing was done by Meridian, an extremely high-end audiophile company. They make the stereo in the new Jaguar, so their normal work is not exactly aimed at the 20 year old demographic. So which is it? Think more Jaguar than house party. If you want thumping, weirdly overboosted bass, this is definitely not the speaker for you. If you want a small speaker that will rattle the windows, this is not the speaker for you, either. Even a pair of these don't get all that loud, although you can at least turn them all the way up with no distortion. I think the only real nod to the party speaker crowd is the light show thing. Even that is a kind of half-baked effort. The lights seem to struggle with accurately timing to the music, and after the initial wow factor, you will want to turn them off, as it just gets annoying. Instead, this is for people (of any age) who actually care about a reasonably accurate reproduction of the source material in a relatively small package. I bought a pair of these PK5s and linked them together so they will play in stereo. I was frankly stunned at how good they sound. The sound signature is rich, nuanced and very neutral. Even the bass, which should be just garbage on something this small, is nicely integrated into the overall sound signature. Clearly, the Meridian guys know what they are doing, this sounds like something a lot bigger and more expensive than it is. I bought these for casual, undemanding listening on the patio. Think morning coffee with a little jazz in the background, a speaker for the kitchen, etc. I wasn't expecting all that much at this price. But these are significantly better than that. I think a pair of these could easily be your only stereo in a small apartment where space is at a premium. They are that good. Good luck finding something else at this quality level for this little money. A pair of these at just over $100 is just a screaming bargain. The only thing about them I don't much like is that you have re-pair the two speakers to each other each time you want stereo. That requires pushing the button behind the door for two seconds on each of them every time you turn them on. Not a huge deal. Oh, and if you have an iPhone the app that provides additional controls for the light show is garbage, doesn't work at all. I think it currently has about 250 one star reviews on the App store. Again, not something I care much about. Pick up a pair of these while you can. Something tells me that, at this crazy price, they aren't going to be available forever.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2019;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Exceptional Audio - An Extreme Bargain - For Mature Audiences;;team W;;;Not many BT speakers have Apt x, let alone aptx HD. Better than the Sony offerings I have heard. I didn't hear them side by side with the UE, which I also like, but these are technologically superior. The speaker has build in volume control as standalone so you can max the volume on the phone you are using and control how loud you want it on the speaker and this is completely independent as far as I can tell. The base boost is good and it has quite a lot of punch for the size of the speakers. The lighting feature is nice but I'd like to have it be more customable then just selecting a color and or rainbow, but it's still a cool touch that they light up. The speaker can get really loud and the pause/play button being skip forward and back is a nice touch as the button layout on top is nice. The back cover is a tad harder to get off than most of the waterproof speakers that I've used but it's not too hard as long as you have something to unwedge it, but it being hard to take off isn't a bad thing as it makes sure that it stays secure so that water doesn't get in the speaker through the charging port or aux which is really bad. The charging time is 4 hours according to the online manual which is long especially with using the recommended 5V, 1.8 amp power adapter but 4 hours isn't too long but it's enough to be inconvenient if you forgot to charge it before going out. The LCD battery light indicator also doesn't stay on like most speakers I have and requires you to hold the power button which I find to be a bit annoying but with the app you can view what the battery is at with what looks like it's to the nearest 10 (doesn't show 84% but 80% instead). Overall though, it is a good speaker and decently loud one.;;Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Great Speaker for the Size;;Jason S.;;;Bought two so that I'd have a "HiRes" portable sound system good for listening to music and still be able to use it to watch movies in my own personal space. I did take this to the 4th of july parade to play patriotic music while I was in the parade, it started to rain and this speaker got rain and mud on it, fortunately it survived and it was easy to clean. I love the sound quality and the noise level, it wasn't loud enough for a parade though, so if you plan on using this in a noisy environment you should look elsewhere. It's loud enough for me and it makes my music sound so much better. Update The charging port didn't last very long. I can't charge it without wiggling the cord around for a few minutes.
