LG's Top LED/LCD TV 9 series delivers all expectations...
I've had ordered this TV set 75inch to replace my 65 LG UH7700 which been moved to master bedroom. I was ready to move to FALD full array back panel and Edge Lit TV's no longer appease my movies watching experience. First delivery from Amazon had a damaged back panel discovered upon opening. Phoned customer service which managed to send me a replacement within 3 days. Amazon made it an easy transition. I am very happy about that. :-) I initially wanted to get a Sony X950G but the premium price was not my cup of tea ($1k more) and adding the fact it is google OS which puts You at their mercy plus I read the OS has still lots of issues. My other choices left with were either a Samsung or an LG. Samsung makes great TV's (LG screens provided) but their Tizen OS is Blahhhh. Given I have 3 LG TV's at home with not a single issue; I trust the brand obviously I stuck with LG. IMHO LG is underrated due to lack of massive advertising. Note many of electronics components LG makes can be found in other Manufacturers. So after the setup and calibrating this set; my expectations are well met and beyond. My first and most important reason i bought a FALD Panel is to get more blacks in dark scenes and no gray blooming which you'll get with any Edge Lit TV no matter what brand. Even though LG does not advertise how many FALD Zones it has like other brands do; it does a great job and enough zones to dim black areas. Reminder: This is a 9 Series LG TV. Means the highest quality Series LG Makes before moving up to OLED. Overall impressions and evaluations are given based on: 1. LG Brand is respectable 2. Latest Technology and features 3. Design and built quality 4. WebOS is very useful and simple to use 5. TV processor is very fast compared to UH7700 6. E_ARC 2.1 for future use and expansion 7. Game mode latency feature (No FreeSync but fast enough for any game Console) 8. Local Dimming PRO - comes with 75 9070PUA model - Confirmed. 9. Picture quality is outstanding (Must calibrate though to your liking) 10. Value vs Price - Great deal However if You have the means and price is not a determining factor, then jump to LG new OLED TV's and call it a day. Nothing comes close to OLED... I gave 4 Stars and took 1 down because 5/5 Stars would be for Perfection. No TV is Perfect. Leave some room for progress and innovation.

Horrible in dark rooms / letter box movies or dark scenes
Amazing for bright scenes and daytime viewing, but if you watch a lot of movies at night or use in dark rooms this tv is nearly unwatchable - corners have lights coming up like flashlights and anything on screen emits a huge haze - aura around it when scenes are dark - never expected this from a top line set, exchanging for the slightly more expensive Sony XB900F, I’d go OLED but they cap at 77 and I love the size of this set. So be warned! UPDATE - Sony is now in my living room and I can say that it is EXPONENTIALLY better at displaying black levels / darker scenes without flashlighting in corners and super minimal clouding. I'm a bit shocked how much better it is to be honest, the LG is only stronger IMO when it comes to sound quality, which guessing most people with a set like this will have an external sound source anyway.

Good tv, but default settings are hot garbage!
I've had this tv for a few days as of the time of writing the review. I will update this over time. In a nutshell, the tv is huge and capable of very bright color. It can display a very clean, clear image and has many useful features for streaming media, etc, but it does have MANY issues in certain areas out of the box. If you buy this tv, you should know: - If you turn up the backlighting past about 45 or so, any light object on a dark background will produce a broad haze or halo. These halos overlap and multiply, turning dark scenes into a hazy cataract-eyed mess. High backlighting settings also cause blotches of light haze around the edges of the screen, again most noticable on dark backgrounds. - The default settings for pretty much everything on this unit are absolute hot garbage. TURN OFF EVERYTHING. All the AI marketing wank is useless and does far more harm to your image than good. Turn off the eco-features, turn off the AI assistance, turn off the "dynamic" anything and "vivid" BS. Trust me on this. The basic picture quality settings are ALL YOU NEED. - The one thing to turn ON: 'Just Scan,' located in Picture settings under Aspect Ratio. This will force the tv to show the whole screen, not clipping the edges off everything and turning all non-UHD feeds into hammered doo-doo as comes default from the factory. Do this for all of your different inputs. - Upscaling HD and SD content is a little rough. Broadcast tv signals suffer the most, with everything but 4K looking chunky and artifacted. Settings make a MASSIVE difference here, particularly the 'Just Scan' option mentioned above. - When you get things set the way you like them, be sure to save them in the settings to apply to all profiles so you can use those settings on your other inputs. And yes, you have to specifically and laboriously check every single setting for each input. - The user interface is pretty good, but there are many different nested menus that do similar things so you should click on Every. Last. Possible. Thing. Seriously. Stuff is hidden and tucked away deep that make huge differences in how your picture is displayed and how the tv operates. It's a maze. I'm still on the fence about whether or not I can live with this tv for a long while, but with the proper setup the picture is pretty fantastic. 4K nature shows, home cinema, PC gaming - all good so far. ***Update after a few months of ownership: I lowered my rating to 3 stars. The picture quality and user interface are both excellent, and I give LG credit for the obvious effort and thought put into the user experience. Very good on those aspects. That said, the halo or haze effect around everything is a major deal breaker. It's still noticeable after many months and I haven't gotten used to it. Sadly, I am too lazy to even attempt to repackage this unit and may not even have all the packaging pieces still - otherwise this would be a return for me. So I live with my mistake for the next 10 years. Oh, well.

This TV cured my blindness and let me look in the eyes of the creator. I saw and felt things that I did not know were possible. The feeling of new birth and the death of someone who lived a pure and worthy life. If you're looking for a spiritual and life-defining TV then your 35K is well spent on this TV. I have since elevated my existence to that of what I can only describe is a monk who's achieved the highest awakening.
