  • Coming from a much needed upgrade, this did the trick
Style: TV
I purchased this tv primarily because web os has an open api. I used to be strictly a Samsung user but their "smart" TV's are lacking, there's no way that I was able to find to control the tv through a local API to enable scripts of some sort to automate local control without having to reach out to a cloud service. I even returned a Samsung tv last year because it wasn't open to local communication. The LG webos does not disappoint, there are a lot of local platforms that have used the LG developer tools to create ways to control the tv locally and not use cloud apis. It's taken a good bit of tweaking to get a real good picture across the board through the devices I have plugged into it, the LED dimming is a little weird but good in some situations. I gave 4s on the smart features because I can't seem to currently control the live TV source with the automation application I use called home assistant. It's either a bug in the current tv firmware or the home assistant api to the web os. Haven't looked into it much yet because apparently it used to work for other home assistant users. Gaming with a PS4 pro, everything looks absolutely beautiful.. Disclaimer, I'm coming to this 4k god from a 46" 1080 Samsung model from 2009... But web os and the features this thing has are awesome. I couldn't find the presidential debates tonight on local over the air channels, nor on the IP channels on the LG channels streaming (which blows my mind how much free content there is) so I pulled up the webos browser, loaded CNN.com and am now watching the debate live streaming in the webos browser on CNN.com with a pretty fantastic picture for what it is. ... show more

  • I bought this TV for it's attractive (and relatively small) stand -- it's lived up to its promise!
Style: TV
I upgraded from a Sony 55" HD Bravia bought 10 years ago to this lovely 75" 4K piece of art. I had previously bought an LG 34-inch HD curved monitor with the same stand style. In my LR, I have a Design Within Reach 4-foot-long Sapporo shelf -- two shelves tall, exactly the right height to hold a TV. But most stands for 75" TV required more than a four-foot-long base. This stand, on the other hand, fit perfectly -- moreover, it opens in the back to hide cables. So my TV is not only at the perfect height for my 30x15 foot LR, it looks super clean with no cables showing. The picture quality is unmatched, with super dark blacks and no motion problems at all. The Smart TV aspects are truly smart, and it updates my software (including LG, Netflix, Apple TV, and all the rest) behind the scenes and with no problems. I love the remote, which acts like a 3D mouse making selections and even entering passwords super easy. I got lucky and bought my TV over a weekend in the summer when it was offered on Amazon at $1399, much less than the price now, many months later. It is one of my best TV bargains ever. ... show more

  • GREAT TV, Remote could be better.
Style: TV
I award this tv 5 stars for the superb picture, the features, and easy setup. The picture is vibrant, and the sound, for built in speakers, is extremely adequate. If you want thundering sound for gaming, then a sound bar might be in order. The remote control, however, is not totally intuitive, and there is not much in the way of instructions. There is no fast forward or rewind buttons. The logic behind this device needs to improve. I have had to call customer service a few times with questions about operating this remote. They have always been prompt and helpful. Learning the remote is a 3.0 star experience. There is, however, a unique feature that I find helpful. It has a mouse that projects onto the screen to make selections easier for operation and setup. Except for the learning curve with the remote, this is a fine unit. Overall 4.75 stars ... show more

  • Good TV for the money
Style: TV
The picture quality is great in the middle of the screen. On the edges, it tends to be dark when a new scene cuts in. It then begins to brighten. It doesn't stutter when the picture pans left/right like our old television did. The dark scenes show up well. Our old TV was blotchy in dark scenes. The physical quality is OK. It is plastic. So, it feels weak. I worried that I might break it just laying it down to put the stand on it. But, it appears to work OK. The settings and smart features are hard to get used to. They are fragmented. I have to press two or three buttons each time to try and find what I want. It doesn't have some apps I want, like NBC and Fox. The sound is good. I have no need for an external sound system. ... show more

  • Great picture and good sound
Style: TV
First of all it's heavy! You probably want to have someone around to help lift if your placing it up high. It's just so wide and awkward to pick up by yourself without touching the screen and potentially damaging it Picture quality is excellent and I'm surprised by how good the sound is compared to other LG TVs I've owned. Using the remote as a gyroscopic mouse is a little awkward at first but it gets the job done. The ability to have both google assistant and alexa is a nice touch. TV comes packed really well with instructions to get it out of the box and stand attached. READ THOSE INSTRUCTIONS. It's actually really slick how they have you do it and makes it possible to get unboxed and assembled by yourself. Definitely a great affordable upgrade when considering the size. ... show more
