abunda_amazon_reviews Just threw this into the trash yesterday. Very frustrated with the inability to level the beds. I was consistently getting boards that would plane well at the start of the cut, only to find the end of the cuts were non-existent. I figured this had to be user error and adjusted my pressure and speed many times. I had this unit for about 5 years and did not use it very often. What I found yesterday was that after laying a straight edge over the entire length of the beds, they weren't parallel/co-planar. Adjust the bed angles right? No problem, except for the fact that there are no adjustment screws, bolts, etc to adjust each bed for leveling. I Googled it, YouTube'd it, researched it no to avail. What sort of worked was to take a rubber mallet and tap the bed corners up or down as needed, and check for level. This sort of worked along the center line of the beds, but the far edges (front and back) of the beds were off, meaning there was a slight twist in one of the beds. So my advice is that you better be happy with the bed angles when you open the box, because there aren't any adjustments to fine tune them later. The power was fine, the blades were sharp and otherwise had no major issues with this unit. However the inability to get the beds level (most important facet of a jointer) is a major flaw in this tool.;;Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2018;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;No real way to level the beds for perfect square.;;McLeanVA;;;You get what you pay for. it works great, for both jointing and planing
I read quite a few of the comments before buying this item. That major complaint seemed to be lack of coplanar alignment of the tables. That was my experience-being unable to get the tables properly aligned. I found the screws that others spoke of and there was zero adjustability there. I decided to use a drill bit about twice the diameter of the adjustment holes to widen those holes. These holes are in the out feed table, one on each side, and the screws in them support the rear portion of the table. After enlargement and adjustment, the tables are coplanar. I don't understand why the machine is made the way it is, but after the mod, it works great, for both jointing and planing.

Little but , good to go for the small jobs !
I have been in woodworking for 40 years . I have worked on the biggest of planers. This little thing is great . Only thing is the Aluminium beds that is used for the beds. But , I know JET products . Yes there inexpensive and cheaply built . But with mu experience with all tools and machines in the woodworking field . What, I did knowing that the warranteed, would not be good . I took it apart and with replacement heavy duty parts , bolts , screws and the set screws and lock-tited everything and did a re-setup. I love it , compact easy to carry along with you where ever you go. I love it !

Very disappointed - I expected better from Jet, especially when so many people report the same problem (here and elsewhere)
Overall, it's a nice machine but as one other (at least) reviewer wrote, the infeed and outfeed tables were not coplanar. In the case of my machine, the Y-axis is off by an eyeball estimate of 1/16th inch. There is no means provided for adjusting the tables so you'll have to get creative in your technique, limit board widths, or perhaps brave in your willingness to make modifications to the machine in order to bring the tables coplanar. As it turns out, Jet does have an alignment procedure but you have to call them to get it and even then it has a very limited range I expected better from Jet. I'm still going to keep the machine however. I could have easily sent it back but I figured my chances of getting one that was more well aligned were pretty much hit or miss. I would highly recommend getting a good quality dial indicator with a flat button tip and magnetic base for blade setting. This will make the task significantly easier and more accurate. Update: This thing is junk. I've fiddled with it for days to no avail. In addition to not being able to get the tables coplane, they are also not flat with a distinct drop off an inch from the knives. If you want one, contact me. You can have mine for $100 + shipping
