I purchased the Jackery Explorer 1500 + 100W Solar Panel for defense against the Buffalo NY weather. Living in a suburb of Buffalo NY that receives record number snowfalls and winds, a solar generator gives peace of mind. I wanted a unit that was portable, quiet, can be used indoors and can be charged quickly by wall, generator or solar panel. I did not want extension cords running from the outdoor inclement weather conditions into my home. My temporary backup power needs: heating (power outages or snowdrifts not furnace friendly), refrigerator, freezer, sump pump, computer, in addition to charging cell phones and pads, lights etc. Granted , I can not power all of these items at once. But during a weather disaster emergency the Jackery Explorer 1500 will be there to help. I find the display easy to read and understand. Love the display features that indicate the amount of time it will supply power and how long it will take for Jackery to be completely charged. I like the individual on/off button for each outlet. Also, the Jackery SolarSaga 100W solar panel can be used to charge the generator and has built in charging ports for charging cell phones etc. !! I had a breaker break, I inadvertently overloaded it and it was old and died. I contacted an electrician who said it would be 6 hours before he could get there which was okay. Then I realized my plant lights were off for my seedlings. Not critical. Then later, I thought, time to use the generator. I plugged the main cord into it and it reported 817Watts being drawn and estimate of 1.4 hours of power. I didn't think to monitor the actual amount of time but it had to be more than an hour and it was at 1% when I disconnected it. I haven't had a chance to solar charge it as it was cloudy when I got it and it is cloudy now, so I'm using house current. ... show more

They are perfect to run indoors to back up refrigerators and fans if the power is out and give you all the power you need in the backwoods to charge batteries and phones. I really like this solar generator and solar panel. The panel is very lightweight and folds easily, very convenient. The generator is really nice. Well made and practical! Charges quickly. I also have Goal Zero, but prefer the Jackery now.

I like this 1500 because it is quite, you can keep inside your trailer, it’s very handy but I do not think it will work as many hours on somethings as they say! You need to be careful for panels NOT too get wet, Cloudy days it still will charge but not like hot sunny days! I have a gas one as well, and they both have there pros and cons. Having both was a good thing, you could charge the jackery with your gas one for the convenience, of using it inside! As long as the sun was out I kept the panel on the roof of my cargo trailer, and it would charge from sun up to down. Works best in the hot desert sun. I don’t see me being able to use it much in Oregon where I live with rain, and clouds, trees, but I am glad I did invest in it, It has many pros . ... show more
