Top Amazon Reviews

  • Amazon offered a great price to Prime customers that was hundreds less than ...
This is a follow-up to the prior reviews, now at the end of the second full winter. -- We still love the machine and recommend it for folks looking for a machine in this class. -- Our area received an almost-record amount of snow over the winter, overwhelming most of the snowplowing services on our private roads here, and taxing the capabilities of most folks' own snow removal equipment. Throughout the winter, the machine saw a lot more use than we ever anticipated. We ended up maintaining a total of seven(!) driveways this year, plus 100 yards of private street and the 90' circle in front of the house here. -- Extra maintenance this year included a replacement for the worn scraper bar, plus one shear pin was used after I ran it into a particularly well-hidden plowed ice-ball. -- Standard maintenance included two oil changes during the season, the last immediately prior to putting it up for the summer. It received the same pre-storage protocol as detailed below from last season. -- I bought a second fuel storage can mid-season. With all the snow, it wasn't practical to drive to the gas station that often just for snow-blower fuel. Of course, by the time I grabbed the extra fuel can, the heavy snowfall was pretty much done for this season. -- Still using good synthetic oil (Mobil 1), and treat every can of fuel with Sta-bil immediately when filled with fuel. -- Post-season inspection shows belts are still in excellent shape, so the spares are still in the spares bin. -- That first pair of jumbo skid shoes I made is getting close to end-of-life. I'll flip them over and get another average season from that side. If we have another winter like 2016-17, a new set will need to go on part way through the season. The pieces are known sacrificial wear parts, so you should buy and stock spares of the factory pieces if you use the machine much. -- I still have yet to use or even try the electric starter. It starts pretty effortlessly withe the pull cord in one or two pulls, so no reason yet to drag out a power cord for the electric starter. -- We'll report back as winter approaches again with how well it comes back to life. This is a follow-up to the original review of 3/2016, with some things I've learned. -- A lot of the earlier (2014 MY production) blowers have/had an issue with the way the auger belt and its tensioner were fitted, The routing causes a lot of wear on the belt, leading to premature belt failure. Replacement belts have been hard to identify and harder to buy for a while, but are no in stock here on Amazon and at dealers. Aftermarket Kevlar belts work fine, according to other user reports. Husqvarna has a service bulletin about the problem, B1500013, that shows how to fit the belt and tensioner to avoid the problem in the future. -- The 2015 model we received a year ago does NOT have any belt problems. Models you receive today have the correct belt routing and tensioner fitment. I still keep a set of belts in the spares bin, along with extra skid shoes and scraper bars. These are normal wear parts. I also have extra shear bolts for the augers; having spares guarantees that I'll never need to replace any, of course. (ref: Edsel Murphy, et al) --- In anticipation of winter snow, the machine came out of its storage spot for a little pre-flight testing. It was stored last spring with a drained tank, fresh oil, and a couple squirts of ATF in the plug hole. The pre-flight included removing the cover and blowing a little dust off. The plug came out and a few pulls on the starter cord to clear any remaining ATF in the cylinder. Fresh fuel with stabilizer into the tank, fuel valve on. 3x primer pumps, set the choke. Then a gentle pull on the starter cord just to get it to compression stroke.. and the darn thing started on that wimpy pull. I'm calling that good! Turned off the fuel valve and let it run out the fuel at idle. Cooled off, cover back on, and back to its parking space. Needless to say, we are still very satisfied with this machine. Bring on winter! I'll report back with more if things change. Original March 2016 Review: After a significant early-season snowfall in our second winter here in Central Oregon, we decided to invest in this snowblower. Amazon offered a great price to Prime customers that was hundreds less than the local cost. Delivery was a few weeks later as scheduled, and the driver mentioned that he had spent most of his day delivering Amazon snowblowers. We rolled it into the garage for setup, and he went on his way while I started reading the manuals. Assembly took less than an hour including the reading. Nothing needed beyond common hand tools and a tire gauge. As luck would have it, snow a few days later was its first test. Neighbor and I were having so much fun that we ended up clearing our own drives, plus three more for more-senior neighbors who aren't able to shovel. After the first couple driveways, I rolled it back inside for a synthetic oil change to get the break-in crud out of the engine sump. It's had stabilizer in the fuel since the first tank. It fits through the 36" walk-through door, and lives covered in the heated garage/workshop. It will soon get "summerized", with an end-of-season oil change and another clean-and-waxing before summer hibernation. As we close out its first winter, it's seen a little over 20 hours of use so far. It starts reliably, usually on the first pull but no worse than the third. Except for the skid shoe wear, no signs that it's anything but new. I'm looking forward to many years of use from this snowblower. No regrets at all with the choice, and I'd recommend this one to anyone considering this size & class of snowblower. With the extra Amazon savings as a Prime member, it's even sweeter. ... show more

  • Love the power
I will start with saying this is my 2nd snowblower i have ever owned. My first was also a 2 stage but a little smaller, 24 inch and 200 cc. My old one worked fine cleared snow but would get bogged down if there was a lot of snow or wet snow and it hated the end of the driveway snow the plow leaves behind so i decided to upgrade. Got the new blower on a day when we already had 8 inches of snow on the ground so i put it together and went to work.I have since used it probably 6 other times with amounts up to 12 inches and as little as 2 inches. Here is what i like about it - Power - this thing is a beast, compared to my old one i can go through the snow in a higher gear and it keeps up, doesn't bog down and need me to slow down. The most impressive part was doing the end of the driveway snow after the plow comes through, this was always the worst with my old one, i basically just had to keep going back and forth ramming it to clear it with the old one, it always got the job down but was a lot of work and took a long time. The new one basically chewed through it like nothing, i will say a couple times it started shaking crazy side to side while chewing through it... i don't know if that was a problem or not but it kept going through the snow so as of now not to worried about it. I also really like the turning and chute controls, my old one was a manual crank to turn it and a wing nut you had to loosen to adjust the top part of the chute, now all the controls are up top. With the turning and one hand operation i can normally turn the machine around and adjust the chute in one motion instead of stopping to do everything. The led light is also better than i thought it would be, i did not have a light before but never thought i needed one, i still don't really need one as i live in town so there are street lights and my outdoor lights so even at night can see most stuff but the lights do brighten it up and make it easier. Here is what i don't like - I specifically bought this one because it had hand warmers, where i live i may have to clear snow in 10 below. If I am out there too long my hands get cold no matter how good of gloves i get. I have had many times with old one where i need to stop part way through and go inside to thaw my hands. So it really was a selling point to me but sadly they are worthless, i am use to handle warmers on my snowmobile and atv's which about burn your hands on high, these i can't even tell if they are on or not, i really don't even know if they are defective and just not working but i know other reviewers have complained, i should have listened to those reviews. When i first used this it was probably 20 degrees so didn't need the warmers but went for a while with them off and while with them on and could tell no difference. The other part i don't like which has also been mentioned in other reviews is the range of the chute, i didn't think much of it when i read the reviews but it really is a dumb design. My old one had a better range so lets say you are going down the sidewalk you can have it angled so it shoots the snow a little behind you, into the yard, with the new one it will not go backwards and not even quite 180 degrees so it always shooting slightly forward so then when i get to the end of the sidewalk it blows snow into the already cleared driveway. Now you can stop the auger earlier and/or angle the snowblower to get it to shoot where you need so does it make it horrible, no, but come on it couldn't have been hard to design another 10 degrees of range in there. I haven't used the electric start, i always prime, put on choke and starts on first or second pull so haven't needed the electric. I will say it's also odd that even when it's warm and been running and i shut it off for a minute, i can not get it to start without the choke, maybe it's designed that way and not a big deal to me i just don't remember having to choke the old one after the engine was warm. Overall i am happy with this purchase because of the power, easy controls and power steering. With that being said, if i had to do it again i would probably not buy this one just because of the bad range of the chute and worthless hand warmers however they also aren't bad enough to make me want to return this just to get a different one and will most likely keep this for many years as long as there are no breakdowns. ... show more
