  • Safe is the answer.
This plane is great, I love the safe feature and it fly's really well. I even took it out in winds that were in the 10 to 15 mph, and leaving the control on beginner i would hand launch the plane into the wind and when i took control of the sticks and gained altitude then i would change over to intermediate and when the plane looks like it might be in trouble i would switch to beginner again to let the plane maintain control again. I'll say this, the wind was strong enough to let the plane hover with the throttle at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and it would land perfectly and i have no model plane experience at all, One tip Fly over the grass until you get good or in winds and the plane will be a lot happier. Trim the plane out in no wind and on expert mode. after that a great flying plane. I haven't done any tricks yet, i just got it for Christmas but this one will let you do that as you gain experience and more confidence. UPDATE:03/08/17- This plane is great, Love it, Love it, I am now at the intermediate level and now doing landings and take offs. I have done loops and rolls at high alt in expert mode then go back to intermediate and if i get out of control i switch to beginner mode or use the panic button. I will use beginner mode when its windy and the plane fly's itself. If you start out new with this plane, place the switch in beginner and then hand launch it into the wind and fly it over weeds and grass that is 6in or taller and you will have a safe crash if that happens. REMEMBER SAFETY IS ALTITUDE. So do stunts when you are high up so if you mess up it gives the plane time right itself in panic mode. Update: It crashed!. But not the fault of the plane, But the manufacturing. I was doing a loop and on the second loop the plane didn't execute the loop in a tight pattern and crashed. I ran thinking the plane was done and to my surprise it was fine, just a little wrinkle in the cone so i took off again but something was not right so i tried to bring it down and it crashed for the last time. I find that the main wing was not glued in correctly and and when i flew it, the back of the wing would lift off the fuselage. I didn't see it when i crashed the first time it only happened when i was in the air. My advice is to make sure the wing is fully glued to the fuselage. It will lose one star because of improper manufacturing but i still love this plane. More advise buy the drone crash insurance because they fully paid out for my plane and now i will buy another. But this time it is the Apprentice S 15. Update 3. Love this plane so much I went and bought another one. This one is bind and fly as I have a radio that works with the apprentice s. ... show more

  • Great Plane, But Here Are Some Tips and Tricks
This is a great plane for beginners. The "Panic" button is absolutely genius, and I use it all the time. But here's the catch: when you first get it, MAKE SURE IT WORKS! If anything does NOT work, DO NOT FLY IT, no matter how tempting it looks. When I got mine, it literally was Ready to fly. You just need to charge the battery, but this is the first problem. The battery for these averages out at 5-8 minutes of flight time, and the more batteries that you charge, the more flight time. When I got my plane, I opened it up and charged the battery. When I plugged the battery in the plane, I turned it up and... It sputtered and coughed and cut out when I pressed it beyond halfway up the throttle. So, I went to my local hobby store (http://www.mrshobby.com/) and asked the RC specialist what was wrong. "The Batteries for these things only give you about eight minutes to fly," he said, "But the charger is what causes your engine problem." He explained to me that these chargers do not charge your battery all the way, and do not turn off automatically after the plane is charged. "You will want one of these," and he reached behind him to grab something like this: ( http://www.amazon.com/GT-Power-B606-Battery-Charger/dp/B00C1BZOSO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1428543938&sr=8-2&keywords=RC+plane+charger) A multi-battery charger. "These things will turn off after your battery has charged to the maximum capacity, and it charges four at a time. More flight time." The next problem is fixing it. If you crash it and the foam breaks, DO NOT USE SUPERGLUE. This eats away at the foam, and will cause the part to not fit right. "The odors is what will prevent the glue from doing it's thing," said the man at my hobby store. I crashed it when I was gliding it, and the nose broke off a little bit, and the motor broke loose. So I had to grab a hobby knife and cut the whole thing open (If you do this, don't tape it up. Get wrist size rubber bands and place them around the wings and the landing gear so that they are vertically straight. If necessary, place small rubber bands around the fuselage to ensure sturdiness). The last thing is that the plane's rudder is almost always off somehow. I tried to fix it both manually and trim it on the remote controller. It was always to the left, when I turned it off and when I turned it on to trim it. This video should help you if you have this problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bTyAGEj5GQ ) If trouble consists, then consult the trouble shooting guide in the manual or talk to a hobby store. Make sure that you actually read the manual first and understand it. And definitely learn how to "Bind" the aircraft; turn on the plane, then the controller. While you are turning on the controller, press down the left throttle joystick until it makes an annoying beeping sound. When the plane makes a weird "VRRT" sound, and the controller gives 10-11 beeps, then your plane has been "Bound." I would definitely recommend this plane to any beginners. it is very fun and easy to fly, as long as you have it on "Beginner" Mode. The "Panic" button comes in handy all the time, as long as you make sure to HOLD it when your plane goes haywire. ... show more
