abunda_amazon_reviews Let me start by saying both products are amazing. What it boils down to is preference. The biggest difference is the Pro Plus 36 keyboard mouse deck is on a lower level which I prefer (see images). My husband prefers to be at the same level when he stands up. The Pro Plus 36 when fully extended is about one inch taller and comes out about 8 inches farther with the keyboard tray. We comfortably sit both desks on a 23.5” (D) desk with only about a ½ inch sitting over. I really enjoy the Pro Plus 36 but almost went with the Pro 36 because I thought I was going to have a lot less desk space. I end up being very wrong. At home I have my Surface Pro 3, my 29 inch monitor very comfortably on the desk (see images). I have plenty of room to put more items on the desk such as ipad, folders, paperwork, and can easily fit my Moleskin planner on the keyboard tray. I also have the Pro Plus 36 at work and fit two large monitors comfortably. My husband and I work on the computer 10+ hours a day and the desks have tremendously helped our backs and our energy levels. The desks are sturdy but I wouldn’t recommend any heavy leaning while the desks are extended.;;Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2015;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Pro Plus 36 vs Pro 36;;Coastie30;;/gp/customer-reviews/R3J8QAIE0KQ4SY/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00BBFXBF4;;;This adjustable standing desk works as advertised - however after about six months of daily use, the lift bracket screws have come loose. It's not a Prime item, but delivery was very fast. I had it in three days from placing the order. Exec Summary: It's a keeper. My back feels much better, my posture is improved, less body stiffness, etc. More Details: The Varidesk Pro has a single adjustable standing desk surface, and a lower level that sits right on the desk with an extendable keyboard tray for when you want to work sitting down. I've set mine up to use both, with a 27" external monitor and wireless keyboard on the upper level and my laptop on the lower level so I can switch back and forth from standing to sitting without readjusting the unit. But I find I stand 95% of the time. I spend anywhere between 2 and 5 hours (occasionally longer) at the desk each day, and even on long days standing feels great...better than I would have expected. Oh, I purchased a rubber anti-fatigue mat from my local warehouse store (you know who), which is great to stand on. I like having the large standing level work surface, so I can just move the keyboard out of the way and spread out whatever other work I need to deal with...bills, notepads, etc. The other model, the Pro Plus (same price), has a smaller adjustable work surface with an attached keyboard shelf, which would be great if all you ever do is work with your computer, but my desk serves many functions from paying bills to repairing whatever breaks around the house and the large work surface gives me more options. The only downside is that with the keyboard and monitor on the same surface I had to raise the monitor on some books for proper ergonomic placement. Thinking of getting a little monitor stand with cubbies for pencils, post-it notes, etc for this. The Varidesk is well-made, oozes quality and is extremely solid and sturdy. I've suffered multiple occurrences of strained lumbar (lower back) which I attribute to: a) chronically poor posture while sitting down (I slouch), and b) bad technique during lifting of heavy objects. It took a few weeks to adjust, but now I absolutely love having a standup desk. While standing, I can fidget, shuffle my feet, flex my legs, twist and lean, and can do this all day long while continuing to work at a computer. I take a couple sit-down breaks in a typical day. Regarding this particular desk, it's uncomfortable for prolonged periods while seated. My keyboard, mouse, 24" monitor, and phone are all on the upper surface. My monitor is on top of a two-level docking station, which makes it about 6" higher than the desk surface. When changing heights, the desk moves smoothly up and down, and it locks firmly in place at intermediate heights. However, while I'm standing, the monitor doesn't seem quite high enough, and while I'm sitting the monitor seems too high, even though I adjust the monitor height as far as possible. In the highest position, the desk rotates into the worker; when in the lowest position the desk is rotated further away. Watch the videos on the Varidesk website carefully before making a decision. I got the 36" wide version of the desk, but it doesn't have enough surface area for my needs. It's a major nuisance if I need to look at documents while typing, especially if it's anything in a binder, it falls off the edge of the desk. If you can afford the 48" wide version, you might like it better. Bear in mind that the desk itself is sturdy and HEAVY, so the larger version might need two people to lift it. A small person may have difficulty raising a fully loaded desk to its upper position. My final thoughts are that a larger simple stationary table might have been a better choice for me, so I could keep everything I need on one level.
