abunda_amazon_reviews I purchased in GPO boombox about 3 or 4 weeks ago says it has a lithium ion battery its not its a nickel metal hydride battery and it didn't hold a charge for longer than 24 hours. It doesn't put out that much sound it's kind of more of a novelty item as opposed to a serious old school style boombox Lacks Power lacks a lot of the features such as recording level a decent set of Vu meters would be nice the ones that are on the unit or kind of play school Romper Room like. There's no type of noise reduction overall the unit feels kind of cheap but if you want something that looks like an old school Boombox this should fit the bill just wish it had a few more features a little better design and more power I also don't like the way the tweeters look the outline of the Tweeter shows through the grill and it looks not so aesthetically pleasing. On the good side well it does look like an old radio kind of also the tuner was kind of strange on it just didn't feel like a traditional tuner if you record or try to make a cassette on this unit it had the lows and the mid range but was lacking the higher-end I don't know what that was about. But I do know if you try to record a tape on this thing it does come out good and loud but it lacks the high-fidelity high-end. And let's see the only other thing the amount of sound it puts out and features but like I said overall it does look good. and it is portable so I have to give it that I give it one star for looking like something from the 80s kind of but low amounts of volume lacking so many different features such as noise reduction or recording level a decent set of Vu meters and maybe a lot of this would have been overlooked if it just put out more sound but I'm sure they were trying to give it some type of battery life so I do understand where they're coming from but it just lacks a lot of things that could have made it a much better experience in my opinion. In my opinion I think maybe after this unit ages a little when the price gets down to maybe $100 it would definitely be worth the price just not worth the price at $260.;;Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2018;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;Hopefully the next one will be better;;2886;;;this thing is pure crap. cheaply made sounds awful. i wouldn't use this if it was given to me. i returned it 2 minutes after i turned it on. also, the right speaker didn't work on mine. but the one that did work just had the worst sound ever. my phone speaker sounds better. take this junk off of here. so disrespectful to real hip hop heads.;;Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2019;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;worst sound. cheap plastic. super wack.;;Luis;;;Hello! It isn't the most Bassiest but it holds its own. The tape deck does have a slight audio flutter but that goes for any new modern tape deck where they are all made by the same company in China. Overall, we enjoy it. My only peeves are it should have chrome speaker dust covers on the woofers and the tweeters are visible through the grille. Battery life is decent but if you leave it off the charger, it will deplete in about 4-5 days due to the internal electronics being on standby. The sound is very good, the CD and Cassette players are problem free, and it's got the looks. The colors on the Meters are a very strange choice, but I leave them off. I have several old Boomboxes, but they are not convenient to use, and they go through batteries way too fast. This Radio has its own Rechargeable Pack, and extras will probably become available. Early models drained the battery quickly when the unit wasn't being used, and although there is still some drain, it's nothing like the early models. Check the features and convenience of this radio before spending on the repairs for an old radio, you'll see that this makes so much more sense. The speakers could've handled a bit more power, but it does have a great sound to it, and the sound is adequate for most any area, indoors or outdoors. ***REVISED 4/19/20 This Radio has only been used a Handful of times in the 5 months that I've had it, and the problems are many! AM Radio is just static, FM is very Hard to tune, Volume, Base, Treble and Balance just stop working at times. TAPE & CD Volume is very low, even after a full charge! I own and use many radios, and have bought 8 of them from Amazon in just the past 2 years. This one cost me $260 so it does have 2 Year Asurion Insurance, and I'm glad that I have that, but with the phones down at most places right now, I will have to wait to send it in for service. Music is very important to me, so I really hope that they can fix, replace or REFUND this unit! Radios I've bought (from Amazon) for half this price, easily outperform this GPO BOOMBOX, and they are reliable. THEY WORK EVERY TIME, BUT THE GPO HAS BECOME A REAL PROBLEM!
