For the price, I cannot believe the quality you get from this camera. The image stabilization is great. The quality of the image is so good I can't believe it. It's miles better than anything you get off your cell phone. It's small enough that nobody notices you are recording. This is a fantastic deal, get a hero 8 right now, the price is low, it's better than the 7, everyone is buying the more expensive and newer 9. Everything about it is great right now, go get it. Battery runs down really fast, that's to be expected in such a small device that outputs such a high quality image. I figure it's less than an hour on default settings. Batteries are cheap though. If you run into problems importing footage to your computer, make sure your computer is up to date enough. I almost thought the camera was broken because every movie I shot had freeze frames. Turned out to be software on my end was just too old to handle the great quality and file format this thing uses. It works well after I updated. ... show more

I am too old to start bungee jumping or mountain biking down a glacier, but I wanted a very small, rugged camera I could attach to my bicycle or any number of things. This thing is extremely small and versatile. By buying an older model I got all the features I needed and saved a little money that I can now spend on accessories ... and there are plenty available. Since my wife is buying this for me for Xmas, I haven't got to put it to full use yet ... but I'm ready and waiting. ... show more

Bought this in March of '22 for my first trip to Mexico. Noticed that it was a little "glitchy" at first, but it seemed to be saving pictures/videos fine after testing it a few times at home and didn't want to risk returning it and not having a replacement in time for my trip. The first day of my vacation it worked fine with exception to the battery running out faster than I thought it should and I took a lot of cool underwater shots. On our way to a jungle park the next day, after charging all night, I noticed that the go pro wasn't turning on. After several attempts we got it to turn on and went about the day taking pictures and videos of the jungle, natural centoes, ocean, and more. I had noticed that the battery life on the 2nd day had significantly dropped and especially when using under water. The next day when I turned on the go pro, I got error messages that the files on my SD card were corrupted and it would require me to "format" or erase all the pictures/videos I had previously taken in order to record new memories. Tried to troubleshoot back at the hotel, but that was the last of using the go pro for this trip. Once I got home, I attempted to salvage my memories in a few different ways, but ended up having to pay $100 to retrieve my photos from the sd card (never was able to get my videos back). Now here we are several months later and the go pro refuses to turn on at all. So be warned that the price for this go pro might look enticing but it's definitely not worth the stress, time, and extra money it took on my vacation! Do not buy!! ... show more

I bought this camera specifically for dirt bike POV action videos. Specifically the Desert 100 weekend and race last weekend in Washington State. The temperature drops just below freezing at night and nears 50 degrees F at the high. Saturday I did a ride in the late morning and it worked great. Great picture, stabilization... Sunday was the big race and started the camera up as I'm about to leave for the starting line. It turned o and started recording for about 3 seconds, beeped 3 times and turned off. I tried turning it back on but no response. Tried new battery, different SD card but no luck. The one event I had been looking forward to the whole year and had finally bought a nice camera for was going to be only in my memory. I took it off and put it in my fanny pack. When I got back home I expected it was bricked but it started up fine and seems normal. Be careful using it in cold conditions ... show more

I love my GoPro. I started a Nature video channel, and wanted something that I could use under water. This camera is perfect. I have a special lanyard that I use with it, because it didn’t work the way I wanted it to being mounted to my snorkel. Once you turn it on, you can leave it on while you’re swimming around and searching for turtles or other underwater creatures. I just grab it, press the start button, and it starts filming. Once I’m done I pressed stop. Having the ability to do this, while you’re searching for different things that you wanna take footage up, really saves on battery power. I couldn’t be any more happier with this camera. You can go back through your videos with the camera, just to see how things turned out. If you feel like you needed to get more footage, make sure it’s charged, and you can head back in the water and do it again. this probably bought a lot of joy in my life, and is completely waterproof and doesn’t need any type of packaging to keep it waterproof underwater. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. This is great for any type of movies that you want to make, or just for capturing your travels. ... show more
