  • The best of all the placemats!
Color: Blue
I have been watching this product since its launch and I was holding off because of the price. After throwing out the last few mats and seeing this on amazon, I decided to purchase. This is an almost perfect mat. The faults it has, I am not sure I would want to change anyway. The material is awesome, it doesn't stain (tomato sauce, soups, curry) and is very durable. No scratches or cracks yet. It actually does stick like advertised. The last mat I bought was laughable. It would just slide around and looked awful when cleaned. This looks like new every wash. I use it on a wood table and it works great. The size is something I love and kind of wish I could change. My kitchen is small so it is a little difficult to make space to fill it or store it. However, if it was smaller, then more mess would get on the table, so I can live with it. I just put it back on the table after washing it so it doesn't take up valuable counter or cupboard space. The actually plate part of it is pretty good. They are deep enough for my two toddlers to eat soup! This is such a change for us because they never eat soup on their own. Usually I feed it to them because handing them a bowl is not an option. They can dig around in it without it sliding around or knocking over. They love it. It was a little bit of a learning curve getting used to serving food this way. I either fill it up in the kitchen, or at the table, which at first seemed a little awkward. But our kitchen is really close to our dining room so it hasn't been that big of a deal. I imagine it might be difficult with multiple young children. If they can't carry it, mom has to probably do one at a time. You can stack and carry them but I usually have food that sticks up out of the holes so it might dirty the top mat. I imagine in a few more months it will feel more comfortable. It will be so nice to move away from bowls, plates and the mess they cause. Overall, a great mat for young children. They are free to explore and feed themselves without too much headache. It is sturdy, easily cleans and is cute and very sanitary. I love supporting this great company and am so glad it lived up to its hype! I heard they are creating a bowl one and I can't wait to get it! ... show more

  • Not as great as I thought it would be
Color: Blue
After seeing this being featured in a blog and the video that showed it's suction power on hard surfaces I was intrigued to try out this product. At the time of purchasing there were no pink ones and I have all girls so I have the blue one. I am using it primarily for my infant who is about 8 months. What I do like: - that I can lift up the entire mat to throw away excess food - contains most food in an area - compartmentalizes food so baby can pick what food she wants to eat off the plate as I am doing the baby led weaning so sometimes when she explores her food it can be pretty messy if it was not put in one place - strong suction on right surfaces - heavy duty What I don't like: -I put it on top of her babee tenda table and for the most part it is strongly suction on that table except that she likes to peel the corners off. Right now it isn't a big deal since she is only 8 months but I can see that being a problem as she gets older and wants to lift the whole plate up. -I also have used it on our ikea wooden table and it doesn't really suction on that table and she also was peeling the corners on that surface. I have tried it on our granite top and it was very strongly suctioned there but we don't eat on that surface. -The plate itself is quite heavy and bulky so I don't know if I would ever bring it with me for traveling. - The mat is also pretty bulky that it takes up a lot of space in the dish washer. I have 3 girls and I don't want the one mat from my infant to take up all of the space when I still need to load other dishes ;) - The price of this mat is on the more expensive side where as if you buy a stainless steel plate it may be cheaper or come with more accessories that can grow with the child. I took two stars off for how expensive it is, being a bulky mat, and not working on every single surface as I had imagined. - cleaning --> same as cleaning any type of silicone surface not as easy as hard surfaced plates - not as practical for growing with child, as the child grows they want to be more like the big kid an want to use real plates and utensils like adults. Overall I think that it depends on your needs if you want this particular mat? For me and a mother of 3 little girls I rather spend my money on a stainless steel set where they can use it later down the line and doesn't take up as much space in the dishwasher. I have to go through a lot of dish washing in one day. For now the ez pz mat is okay for my infant as I can lift her plate and throw away her excess food and not have to scrub down her table;) My two year old does not really throw her plate around so I don't think it would be a necessary plate to have in the future. for my family it seems it would only be necessary first one or two years of life. ... show more

  • Not the best thing ever but best of what we have tried so far
Color: Blue
I was hesitant when purchasing this place mat for my son because of the price but my son is 20 months old and loves to knock over the his plastic plate over when he's done eating so I decided to give this a try. I definitely think it works a lot better than the plastic tray or plate (even ones with suction cup to help keep it on the table) because it's heavier and perhaps makes it harder for him to flip it (and make a huge mess). However, while I have a hard time removing it from our wood dining table, my son does not!? :( I think his fingers are tiny and can easily grab the corners of the mat and make it comes off (while my big fat fingers have a hard time doing so). It's also dish-washer safe so just rinse and toss it in the dish washer after a meal. I definitely like it and will continue to use it but will probably not buy more because of the cost. It's not the best thing ever, but better than all the other ones we've had. I even tried using the disposable table mat (with stickers on four sides to tape it down) but not only does the cost add up, he also "still" manage to get it to come off by peeling off the corner... so until we find a better solution or until my son learn some table manner, we will continue to use this at our dinner table. ... show more
