  • Versatile Hub
Style: 11 IN 1 HUB
This Usb-C hub offers a lot of versatility. It has 2 hdmi ports, a usb-c female charging port, 2 usb 2.0 ports, 2 usb 3.0 ports, an ethernet port, a micro sd card slot, and an SD card slot and a headphone jack. I liked how the manufacturer was nice enough to include a storage pouch for the hub so it makes it easier to carry around and harder to lose and an instruction booklet. For my test runs I conducted them on my laptop and IPad Pro (2018). Be forewarned though, the hub is optimized more for computers rather than tablets (specifically the ipad pro) so don’t expect the same functionality in the latter. Laptop: The hub really expanded ports on my laptop to make it almost like a workstation. I was able to use my usb mouse, plug in my flash drive, charge my phone, plug in a memory card, headphones and connect it to the internet through a wire. I found the expanded number of ports to be useful since my laptop lacks an ethernet port and only has 1 usb port so with this I can run my usb mouse, install a flash drive and charge my phone at the same time while under normal circumstances I can only plug in 1 usb device at a time. I also like how the 2 hdmi ports enable me to project to two external monitors or tv’s. My two minor gripes with the hub while using it on the laptop would be that the usb c port provided is only good for charging and not data transfer and when plugging the hub the sound source switches to the hub’s mic automatically so I have to constantly switch it back to my laptop’s speakers if I don’t plan to use headphones. However, both can easily be overlooked. IPad Pro: As stated earlier, the hub is more optimized for use on computers than tablets or specifically the ipad pro so don’t expect it to have as much utility. This isn’t a shocker though since the instruction booklet says how its functions are limited on the IPad Pro. I don’t think this is a deal breaker since I assume most wanting to purchase this hub will have in mind to use it with a computer instead of a tablet. As for my tests, I hooked up the hub to IPad pro and the HDMI, USB-C, ethernet and headphone jack ports functioned. I was able to project my tablet’s image onto an external monitor, charge it, do a hard wired connection to the internet and listen to sound on the headphones. Unfortunately though, the USB ports, SD and Micro sd slot did not function. Though with IPad OS coming out soon and making it so you can transfer files to the ipad pro through usb drives, the USB ports might get more use out of them. The hub despite its limited uses did give me more options for my tablet since I was limited to one usb c port but now I can listen to music and charge it at the same time. Another warning though, when using the headphone jack the music might be loud even at the lowest volume setting and if projecting to a monitor or tv you may encounter some issues with where the sound is coming from since sometimes it’ll be out of the hub’s mic or the external display but I had no control since ios unfortunately doesn’t have an option of where to change the sound source. This didn’t really matter to me in the long run since If I ever want to hook my computer or tablet to an external display, I am more likely to show a presentation (without sound) rather than a video. Though I believe if I ever use the hub on the tablet I will avoid using headphones. Despite its minor flaws I believe this is a very solid product that can turn your computer into a workspace and offers tablets a bit more functionality. Like I said the hub is more optimized for computers and I believe most anyways will use it with that instead of a tablet. Also, with IPad OS coming out soon the hub may be of more use to tablets. All in all, I recommend this product to anyone needing more ports for their computer or to turn it into a workstation. ... show more

  • Works with iPad Pro
Style: 11 IN 1 HUB
I've been looking for a USB C hub that's compatible with my iPad Pro (2018) plus will work with a new MacBook Pro 16" that I plan on getting soon. This review just focuses on my iPad Pro for now, which is updated to iOS 13.2.3 at the time of this review. This USB C hub is advertised to support max PD charging at 87W, so I will update this review with the MacBook Pro once I get it. I'm aware this USB-C hub won't support triple display on Mac OS, which is fine - I don't need it for that. I was told by support that the SD/TF card reader won't work with the iPad Pro, but I don't have an SD card to test this on my iPad. It wouldn’t be an issue for my use case scenario anyway. Both USB-A 3.0 plus the USB-A 2.0 ports worked with my wired mechanical keyboard; previous USB-C hubs I've had didn't work with my mechanical keyboard through the USB-A 2.0 connection, so this was a nice surprise. More connection options is a plus. The USB-A 3.0 port did connect consistently/no problem with my Samsung T5 external hard drive. To quick charge my iPad, I used the Zendure 100W PD power bank (called the Super Tank) - no problems with fast charging. The audio port worked well with my wired headphones. Since the iPad Pro does not have an audio port built in anymore, I was looking for one as a backup. The sound was very clear, but I noticed sound could only be heard through bluetooth or wired headphones when the hub was connected to the iPad. I couldn't find a way to switch back to the iPad speakers while the usb c hub was attached. So be aware of this. When I tested this hub with my older 1080p monitor - using a HDMI connection - I found it did work but I had a harder time getting the connection to work immediately and consistently every time I plugged it back in. I did check the connections at both ends. I don't believe there's anything wrong with my monitor, it has worked with other usb-c hubs I have. Advantages: - Diverse and ample number of ports, including USB-A; I like how they are separated out on the hub, with at least one USB-A 2.0 on the opposite side of the unit. - High enough PD charging to support bigger laptops with higher charging requirements. - Has an audio port and ethernet, which are not always available on usb-c hubs. - Long enough attachment cord works well with the iPad Pro. I love this. - Nice build quality, yet light and very portable. The cord/cable is super sturdy and thick, and securely anchored to the unit. Disadvantages: - Only one USB-C charging port. I would have liked having an extra USB-C port for data transfer, maybe sacrifice one of the USB-A ports. But since laptops have extra USB-C ports, it shouldn't be a problem for me. - Inconsistent HDMI connection to my 1080p monitor. I'd give this hub a 4.5 instead of a full 5 stars mostly because of the inconsistent HDMI connection with my iPad Pro, with the time it took to get it to connect. ... show more
