I love these things; they are cheap and get the job done, but I remove one star for misleading advertising. The photo shows a man wearing these around his upper arms. NO WAY will this fit around a man's biceps. I'm a small woman and the slap band would not stay on over my biceps over a light coat and jacket. I thought it was secure, but it fell off twice while I was bicycling. This is great for wrists and ankles but forget about wearing it around larger body parts. The device is simply a strip of clear plastic with a tiny light attached at one end that shines the light along the clear plastic strip. The plastic strip and the metal slap band are inserted inside a colored nylon sleeve, thus resulting in the different colors. The light itself is a normal white light. Changing the battery is dead simple, just slide the old one out and the new one in. My biggest challenge was figuring out how to slide the plastic strip with the light out of the sleeve to access the battery! I was trying to pull from the battery end but much easier to push from the far end of the plastic strip. Just be sure you're actually pushing on the plastic strip (squared off end) instead of the slap band (curved metal end). ... show more

    • Good Enough, but Not the Same as More Expensive Lights

The light is pretty bright and performs its function adequately. I bought this 4-pack of slap lights to give to friends who might want to run so they have one less excuse (a lot of my friends work nights). I kept one for myself and tried it out. I already have a slap light from another brand that costs about $10 for one, so my impressions are compared to that. (I kept the pink one. I'm seeing that other reviews noticed a difference in brightness among colors, pink is mentioned as being one of the brighter ones.) This brand, the four-pack, aren't as nice as the $10 one, as you'd expect. Here's how: *The light isn't quite as bright. I'm gonna say it's (the pink one is) bright *enough* but I feel safer with the other brand. *The fabric isn't as comfortable (the cheap one, this brand, got more gross and sweaty feeling during my pre-dawn foggy test run wearing both) *The outer fabric doesn't have the reflective stripes like the more expensive one. *The bracelet doesn't wrap as smoothly along the whole length, so it's a little more uncomfortable to wear on my upper arm. For parties, raves, camping, keeping around as spare or "guest" lights, or giving to friends who might never use them, I'd say this package is ideal. For one person running on the road in the dark or semi-dark several times a week, I'd say treat yourself to the more expensive brand. ... show more

This is a SMART, FUNCTIONAL product. I am very visibility conscious - having suffered a car strike riding my bicycle - and have all the lights, reflectors, hi-viz jackets I can find and always looking for new & improved. Last week I was browsing Amazon for Illumination choices for walking, bicycling, running - basically staying safe in the world of distracted motorists and lost daylight. I stumbled on the "slap band" style of product and almost skipped over them because I didn't know what they were. I read some reviews and purchased 2 brands. First the Emmabin 4 pack @ about $13, and the GlowHero @ $10 for a single band. WOW - what a good idea. Shoe lights, reflective outerwear, headlamps, etc are all fine but either passive or single direction. These are 360 degrees and EASY. What a concept for almost no money. The "slap band" is straight & rigid in the package, but if you slap it against your wrist (for example) it immediately curls to fit your wrist/arm/ankle/whatever. Each of the brands I purchased have multiple modes and I use the fast flash for walking. Each of the brands come in multiple colors, for the GlowHero which is a 1 pack I got the yellow/green. I can't speak to longevity as I've now used on only 4 walks - each brand twice. The GlowHero comes with a hanging hole at the top which offers additional utility. The Emmabin comes with a FOUR pack for not much more money. The 360 degree visibility and SIMPLE virtues of this product entry have earned my loyalty as a great safety advance - also lightweight for easy transport. I agree with the other reviewers that the advertising of this product is somewhat misleading. You cannot wear these on your upper arms. However, I wore one on each of my ankles for a night run, and they were very light weight and comfortable. I hardly noticed they were there but for the light. The brightness is decent, but I think it somewhat varies from band to band, either because of the fabric or the strength of the light. I would have preferred bands that were rechargeable instead of battery operated as well. Overall a functional safety product at a fair price for what it is. ... show more
