DeWalt followed in his father's footsteps by holding mill and constructions jobs from the time he left school. No matter what the job, the question of high labor costs always concerned him. To help cut these costs, occasionally he rigged up a machine to meet some special need. Eventually, Mr. DeWalt was offered a position as head of a woodworking mill that manufactured almost everything from boxes to full-fledged houses. He designed a yoke and attached it directly to a motor and saw, then mounted it on a standard arm. The saw could be raised, lowered, slid back and forth, moved to any angle, or tilted to any bevel. It instantly lowered costs and increased productivity, and was the first DEWALT tool. Today the DEWALT power tools line consists of over 200 electric power tools and over 800 accessories including: drills and hammer drills, screwdrivers, circular, chop, miter, table, reciprocating, and jig saws, planers, impact wrenches, die, angle, and bench grinders, shears, nibblers, sanders, laminate trimmers, routers, and plate joiners. • Easily improved, Some misinformation out there, some flaws but fixable. Still decent
Style: Stand
Like a lot of people looking at the dewalt stand vs the others, I was extremely skeptical. Especially after watching a YouTube review showing the flaws. To everyone: the YouTube review is WRONG. The locking handle does rotate enough to not hit the ground, with a little more effort and after a few times it works fine (see pic). I had no cracked tightening knobs, and I cranked down on them really hard, maybe they've improved them... if not most hardware stores have these. Easy swap. YES there is a lot of slop in the side brackets, BUT it is FIXABLE. Using some channel locks or comparable and a little finesse, you can actually carefully squeeze the brackets together to take out the slop. It doesn't take a lot with a full size set of channel locks and some protected tips. The metal bends fairly easily if you go too far. Mine now has no slop at all. With the dewalt saw, you don't need to drill any of the mounting brackets out. The hardware works but was poorly chosen (they're much narrower than the holes so they can float around off center before tightening...) You CAN ADD WHEELS with a little fab skills just like the Bosch one. All it takes is some threaded rod, two small wheels like small mower wheels, and some simple brackets like a gate hinge with threaded rod through it. I did it with simple parts from the hardware store in about 30 mins. I also took it one step further and modified the extension support to act as an upright stand (do at your own risk, I drilled through the metal to add bolts in several spots. The legs lock open and closed and the quick attach brackets for the saw are really nice Overall I'm satisfied, but yes dewalt definitely could have done a better job on the support brackets. Would buy again. ... show more

  • It comes with brackets already!!!
Style: Stand
It comes with brackets!!! Did I say it already has brackets - no need to buy and return them. This table is great! I'm using it to hold my 12" Dewalt compounding miter, and it's extremely stable. I showed my contractor buddy and he guessed it at about $800, since his $500 stand didn't have near the functionality. Glad I got it to do my floors, and it really works well. Also, it comes with brackets already included :) ... show more

  • An Excellent Purchase For Our Shop
Style: Stand
I bought this for my husband for his birthday in June so we've been using it for around 3 months. I also purchased this: DEWALT DW7029 Wide Miter Saw Stand Material Support and Stop after reading some reviews that it was helpful in stabilizing wider pieces. It's a great set-up and I have no regrets about the decision to purchase it. I was debating about the portable, collapsible saw stand but am glad that I chose this one. It was pretty simple to set up, just attaching the included mounting brackets to the saw and then moving it to the easily set up base. The brackets slide over the rail and snap in place. The stand didn't look as though it would be solid and sturdy enough (to me) to hold the saw but it certainly is. The extra material support that I also purchased slid on the support arm and tightened down securely. It was nice to have the end of the workbench back too, although it quickly was filled up again. There's never enough horizontal space! We are weekend builders, so this hasn't gotten the regular use that tradesmen would give it. It is a very much appreciated saw stand, however, and relieves the frequent battle we had with space. We had the floor space to place it in so it's been a winning purchase for us. If we have any more to add as we continue to use this, I will update my review. Edit- We've had this for a year now and my husband has commented about how much easier it is for him to use his saw, thanks to this stand. Being able to place it in the "open" with this stand allows him more flexibility with the longer pieces of wood that he cuts. The supports do droop a bit the farther they go out, but that's to be expected, isn't it? You will need stationary stands for more reliable height control. The stand folds easily and conveniently to transport. The saw removes quickly and easily too, once the brackets are attached. Love it, and would purchase again! ... show more

  • Middle of the road quality...
Style: Stand
I've had my Dewalt compound chop saw for several years and love it. I've always had it bolted to a homemade table so it was a pain to unbolt if I ever wanted to use it out of my workshop. For my last project I really needed it more portable so I bought this stand. It pretty much does what it claims in the description... with a few warnings. - Its a little unstable, the legs wiggle. In the grass its better, but still not rock solid. - Its difficult to get the saw to slide left and right on the track, I usually have to disconnect and connect where I want it to be for a specific set of cuts. - And the mounting brackets broke after a few uses. I can still get the saw on and off but the double action levers that make it easy have come apart and I have to hold them together before pressing them. - Its pretty bulky and takes up a lot of space. I'm not sure what else is out there and how the quality compares, but buyer beware. ... show more

  • Great, but add some dollies!
Style: Stand
Stand is great, but once the saw is on it can be awkward to move on your own - you have to drag it from one end and I always felt I was doing the stand no good when I did. If you get one, or have one, think about adding four of these dollies: I put one under each leg and it makes it so easy to move the stand around, They stay in place under the legs surprisingly well without any fixing. ... show more

  • Great stand!
Style: Stand
This stand is really great! It’s light weight yet stable. Portable and easy to setup. The ends extend so you can support up to a 16 foot piece and they come with two supports but you can buy more or wider ones to support wider boards. I absolutely love it if you need one I would highly recommend this one. And as you can see from the pic it is universal so you do not have to use a DeWalt saw ... show more
