abunda_amazon_reviews I purchased this to replace my AVR-X4000, because of the enhanced video specs. I have upgraded to 4k projector, Blu-ray, and AppleTV, and the old AVR could only support 1080i. Setup was easy, since most of everything looks identical to the X4000. The sound output after calibrating with their excellent Audissey system is incredible. The big disappointment was that the high rate video would not pass without glitches and sometimes complete failure (snow). I spent a day tweaking input levels and turning conversion on/off. Even replaced the 8k 48Gb/s cables I had bought for the new unit with another set, but to no avail (cable length 3 feet before and 6 feet after the receiver - not long at all). Followed all the "tips" on Denons website, but finally called their support. After an hour with a tech (that was busy caring for his baby - presumably at home), I had to give up and get an RMA for the unit. I would have ordered a replacement unit, but for the fact that the tech finally announced that it is "normal" for the receiver to take up to a minute to sync the HDMI signal... not to mention it cutting out in mid-show or not syncing at all! I went back to my old receiver, and purchased an external switch for the video instead.;;Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2020;;3.0 out of 5 stars;;Glitchy HDMI, possibly a bad unit.;;HJ;;;I bought this receiver so I could move all my 4K UHD HDCP 2.2 devices from my TV back to the receiver. My previous receiver was billed as 4K compatible, but came out before HDCP 2.2. Thus, it would not support 4K/60p when I finally got a 4K TV in 2018. Those devices ended up being plugged into the TV. The 4700 supports HDCP 2.3, so all of those devices will work well plugged into the receiver instead of the TV. The 4700 works well with the Fire TV Stick 4K plugged into an HDMI port, and supports Dolby Atmos apps including Disney+ and Tidal. Other devices, such as cable boxes, may have some HDMI handshaking issues that are problems with the devices and not with the receiver. After finding some workarounds, it works with the Xfinity X1 4K cable box. I could not get Alexa to work with HEOS on the 4700. It keeps saying the 4700 is offline, even though it isn't. Alexa will power the 4700 on and off, so it is not a complete failure. Other than that, HEOS works well, and supports Amazon Music Ultra HD Hi Res Audio playback at the correct sampling rate. It also handles DSD 2.8 and 5.6 MHz streaming from the PC using a DLNA music server. Sadly, it does not handle DSD 11.2 MHz. Multichannel DSD and FLAC files can be played back via a Blu-Ray player that will send the bitstream over HDMI. The Oppo UDP-203, for example, streams these from the DLNA music server and they will play back in multichannel 5.1 on the 4700. Multichannel SACD discs will also play back well over HDMI, and the 4700 will decode multichannel DSD 2.8 MHz using it's own DAC. Multichannel DSD 5.6 MHz will be sent as PCM to the 4700 and played back in multichannel 5.1. Naturally, the raison d'etre of the 4700 is to play back 4K UHD Blu-Ray in 4K/24p with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. it will handle these beautifully. It will also handle 4K60 in Dolby Digital Plus from Netflix and Prime Video, either from a smart TV app over eARC or via the Fire Stick 4K or other steaming device. Dolby Surround will enhance these to use the height speakers if available, but will also enhance the sound of a regular 5.1 or 7.1 system. Unfortunately, there is only one HDMI 2.1 input port, so only one of the next gen game players like the PS5 or Xbox Series x can be plugged into it. The recommendation is to plug the second player into a capable Smart TV's HDMI port and use eARC to send the audio back to the receiver. I'm only planning on getting one of those players so that is not an issue to me. The HDMI 2.1 input port will only handle 40Gbps instead of 48Gbps. There are You Tube videos addressing this issue, but it shouldn't be an issue for a few years. All in all, this is a great receiver for someone who needs to upgrade into a more modern receiver to meet the AV needs of the next few years. It is not future proof by any means, but that is the way it is for receivers of late.;;Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2020;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Great 8K HDMI 2.1 Receiver;;Amazon Customer;;;Mine lasted one day after having it professionally installed. I wish there were a way to allow for a demo, but a home video recording can never do it justice. I am using the Denon with seven large Klipsch speakers that sound even crisper, plus the 15" Klipsch 800w powered subwoofer. The Audessy microphone and software make setup seamless and easy. I did not mind the time to set up because the software does take a bit of time to fine-tune your speakers. The Denon app, on the other hand, is sluggish and is very near pointless as I am using the Logitech Harmony Hub to control the unit through the Harmony app. All of my AVR components are in another room, so I had the Harmony Hub for years. When comparing the Denon app to the Harmony App, the Denon app has many more functions to control; however, the app is frustratingly slow. I did not purchase this for the Bluetooth app, so no points off. I love the decrease in lag when switching between different video resolutions. My old receiver could take up to a minute to refresh the input; the Denon is quite snappy. The Denon AVR-X6700H is an excellent receiver hands-down that offers excellent upgradability. The next purchase will be for external amps to use the preamps on the back of the unit, although noise is hardly noticeable as-is. I do want to increase the wattage per channel because the recommended wattage is higher for my speakers, and I love crystal clear audio. I highly recommend this receiver. I hope you appreciate it as much as I do. Enjoy!;;Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Phenomenal Audio and Video Processing;;P. Lupia

I went back to my old receiver, and purchased an external switch for the video instead.

Great 8K HDMI 2.1 Receiver
I bought this receiver so I could move all my 4K UHD HDCP 2.2 devices from my TV back to the receiver. It is not future proof by any means, but that is the way it is for receivers of late.

Just failed for the second time.
Mine lasted one day after having it professionally installed. The audio is excellent. The upscaling is only fair. The second day I had it, I turned it on and got a pink screen, turned it off and unplugged it. Plugged it back in and no video at all. Waiting to hear from WorldWide Stereo who I got it from through Amazon. Got it fixed with a hard factory reset and now it works as described. Runs a little warm, may want a cooling device. It is spectacular with 8k and especially IMax Enhanced movie. Best picture I have ever seen on a tv. 8/7/20 Just died again. My height speakers disappeared. Now what? Time to return it.

Great receiver
Great sounding and flexible receiver. I had some initial problems, but over the weekend some additional troubleshooting seems to indicate that they may be related to my cable tv box and not the receiver. I’m going to replace the cable tv box and verify. Update: Installed new cable box this morning; box was the thing malfunctioning. Watched Greyhound with this receiver powering my 7.2.2 system.... sounded freaking great. Now I am very satisfied with the 3700h and I am a very happy camper. Thanks to Listen Up for bearing with me through this troubleshooting process. Great folks at this business.

Phenomenal Audio and Video Processing
The Denon AVR-X6700H has remarkable audio and video processing capabilities. Enjoy!
